The captain turned to Ashton and suggested, “Mr. Baldwin, he’s just trying to stall us. We should take him back for questioning.”

Ashton considered the suggestion, but before he could respond, the hooded man burst into laughter.

Suddenly, the man began foaming at the mouth, his eyes rolling back as his body convulsed. In mere moments, he fell silent. Realizing what had happened, Ashton quickly wiped the foam away, revealing a shattered test tube in the man’s mouth.

Other officers rushed over, but Ashton shook his head. “There’s no need to save him. He had cyanide hidden and took his own life,” he stated grimly.

Ashton’s expression grew serious. As a doctor, he knew that kind of poison wasn’t easy to come by.

His thoughts immediately turned to the Marquez family, who owned a chemical factory and had connections to Fraser. A strong suspicion settled in his mind that they were tied to the Dark Night Organization.

Unfortunately, the lead they’d just uncovered had vanished in an instant.

To ensure there were no accomplices lurking nearby, Ashton requested the police conduct a thorough search of the area for any remaining threats. Then, he prepared to head over to find the Campbell sisters.
