Lost in his fantasy, Jacoby was so distracted that he didn’t even notice Ashton quietly approach him.
Ashton raised an eyebrow, amused by Jacoby’s intense focus. But Ashton could easily guess that he was the cause of Jacoby’s excitement.
Without hesitation, Ashton slid into the booth beside him and greeted, “Hey, Mr. Marquez. Your arm’s all healed? You seem to be in high spirits enjoying yourself here.”
Jacoby jumped at the sound of Ashton’s voice, instinctively taking a step back in surprise.
But then he remembered where they were; no matter how bold Ashton was, he wouldn’t dare act recklessly in such a setting.
Quickly regaining his composure, Jacoby smirked and replied,
“Mr. Baldwin? What brings you to a place like this?”
Ashton smiled back, his tone casual. “Well, I just have a few questions and thought I’d come over to ask you.”
Jacoby was momentarily taken aback before bursting into laughter. He never expected to see Ashton so polite.
Could it be that this reckless fool had finally realized the Marquez family’s influence in Staville?
Or perhaps Ashton had gotten wind of the information that Beal had already contacted a hitman to deal with him, and this was just a last-ditch effort to plead for mercy?

“Who do you think you are? Why should I bother answering your questions?” Jacoby remarked with a smug look. “Soon enough, my brother will come looking for you. You can throw your questions at him. Whether he entertains them, well, that’ll depend on his mood!”
Watching Jacoby’s conceited display, Ashton’s tolerance reached its limit. The smile vanished from his face as he retorted sharply, “What are you rambling about? I’m not here for your permission; when I ask a question, you must give me an answer.”
With that declaration, Ashton stood abruptly and strode toward Jacoby with determined steps.
Taken aback by Ashton’s resolute advance, Jacoby’s face registered shock, and he involuntarily drew back.
Once he collected himself, thoughts of Ashton’s notorious past dealings made him question whether Ashton was about to seize him publicly.
Shivering with apprehension, Jacoby stuttered, “Ashton, what exactly are you suggesting? Remember, we are in a society governed by laws. You cannot simply do as you please for all to see!”
