Chapter 553
Chapter 553:
But before he could reach it, Ashton, with a smug smirk, firmly planted his foot on the edge of the device. With a swift flick, he sent the detonator soaring into the air, skillfully caught it, and secured it in his grip.
Ashton then taunted with a sly grin, “Fortunate for me, you chose to show off. Had you not, you might have succeeded. Now, you stand no chance!”
Egan collapsed onto the floor, his eyes wide with shock, and his face drained of color from fear.
Prior to this operation, Fraser had cautioned Egan about Ashton’s cunning, stressing that no opportunities should be given to him.
Yet, Egan had never anticipated Ashton to be this formidable, overturning the situation in mere seconds.
Even though Ashton had commandeered the bomb’s remote, he remained vigilant, uncertain if other dangers lurked within the expansive banquet hall.
As he watched the special forces and police efficiently shepherd the crowd out of the banquet hall, Ashton allowed himself a brief moment of relief and refocused his attention on Egan.
Unlike his two sons, Egan was a pivotal figure within the Dark Night Organization. Now that Ashton had effectively neutralized him, a significant breakthrough in unraveling Fraser and the organization’s schemes seemed imminent.
Although their adversary was fully prepared for the attack, Ashton had received a crucial tip-off from the Marquez brothers and was ready for any challenge.
Apart from Luther, the fool who ate a piece of poisoned cake of his own accord and nearly met his end, everyone else emerged unharmed.
Moreover, the night turned in Ashton’s favor when he apprehended Egan, a major figure within the Dark Night Organization.
Just as the situation seemed to stabilize, with special forces evacuating the premises and Ashton monitoring Egan, a cold, eerie feeling of danger washed over him.

It had been a long time since Ashton experienced this unnerving sensation, not since his days as an ordinary man with the James family.
Despite the chill that raced down his spine, he remained alert.
That sinister premonition was followed by the sound of something whistling through the air. Ashton’s quick reflexes allowed him to dodge just in time as a playing card embedded itself in the spot he had just vacated.
The card had grazed his face, causing a sharp sting and drawing a bead of blood.
Had he not moved quickly, relying on his instincts, the card might have been fatal.
Regaining his composure, Ashton was startled by clapping from a shadowy corner of the room.
Although he had lowered his guard earlier, with his abilities, he couldn’t have failed to notice anyone approaching.
However, the individual applauding had cleverly eluded his attention and silently entered the banquet hall, their movements and speed surpassing those of an average person.
