Sweating nervously, the woman snapped back, “Why not? A hundred thousand dollars doesn’t matter to me.”
Alisha raised an eyebrow and sneered. “And what if I told you I found this hidden in the toilet tank? How do you explain that?”
At that moment, a jewelry store manager rushed over, his face flushed with anger.
“This woman is a thief!” he exclaimed, pointing at the suspect. “She was in our store, pretending to select jewelry, and took advantage of a moment when our staff were distracted to steal several necklaces!”
With the manager’s testimony and the stolen goods as evidence, the woman had no more excuses. Her shoulders slumped in defeat as she confessed.

She glanced over at Ashton, a note of pride in her voice and admiration shining in her eyes.
Zane Paige’s grin faded as he followed her gaze, finally noticing Ashton standing nearby. His cheerful demeanor evaporated, and a shadow of disappointment passed over his face. The realization that Alisha was with someone else clearly stung, and his earlier warmth vanished in an instant.
Ashton initially smiled politely when he saw Alisha speaking with the officer in a friendly manner, preparing to greet him with courtesy.
But the moment Zane’s expression darkened upon seeing him, Ashton couldn’t help but sigh resignedly to himself.
