Meanwhile, Ashton was unaware of these tensions within the Carter family. At that moment, he was in a confidential meeting room in Staville, facing several government officials.

Each of them sat silently, reviewing a document: the list of undercover agents that Ashton had received from Red Jack.

As the officials scanned the list, the shock on their faces was unmistakable. The silence grew heavy, broken only by the occasional shifting of papers.

Rayden, head of the police department, looked particularly shaken. He had never imagined that Zane—someone he trusted and admired—could have been the mole who sabotaged their crucial plans.

“How could this be?” one of the officials muttered, his expression bitter. “I trusted Ford so deeply… and he was an undercover agent from the Dark Night Organization all along? Even that car accident, where he supposedly risked his life to save me, was orchestrated by them to gain my trust?”

Another official muttered, “I’ve been wondering why I keep getting reported for baseless issues, facing investigations from the higher-ups every few days. I even asked Gary to help me figure out who I might have offended. Turns out, it was him scheming against me all along.”

These discussions echoed through the entire meeting room, hanging heavy in the tense silence.

Ashton’s expression grew serious.

The Dark Night Organization’s infiltration ran deeper than he had imagined. If it hadn’t been for Red Jack’s list, Ashton might never have realized just how grave the situation was.

The names on the list were primarily mid- to high-ranking officials, individuals that the department heads had groomed and trusted. Many of them were even being prepared as future leaders. If these people rose to power, Fraser would indeed gain control over Staville.

After the shock subsided, Ashton addressed the room. “I believe you now understand why we’re here. This situation is critical. Nearly thirty individuals on this list hold significant positions. Capturing all of them at once won’t be simple. And if they sense what’s happening, they could create chaos before we can act. While their individual power may not match yours, together, they’re a dangerous force.”

“Exactly,” another chimed in. “I lead the Railway Bureau—I don’t see how I can be of much use.”

Ashton shook his head firmly. “Failure is not an option. I need everyone’s cooperation on this. We’ll have to work together to make this operation a success.”

The officials straightened, sensing Ashton’s resolve. Rayden cleared his throat, cautiously asking, “What’s your plan, then?”

Ashton’s gaze sharpened. “I’m going to make myself the target. I’ll step into the spotlight, lure these hidden agents out of the shadows, and we’ll take them down, all at once.”
