Chapter 643
Chapter 643:
“Oh, it’s Antoni again. How many poor fools has he roped in with his tricks? Just another sucker,” one muttered.
Another murmured in disappointment, “Such a pity—she’s gorgeous, and he’s just going to hand her over to that snake. If I’d known earlier, I’d have tried my luck myself.”
Hearing these snide remarks, Antoni wore a smug grin, his gaze fixed on Alisha with a glint of triumph. In his eyes, he’d already won, savoring his prize.
Only then did Alisha break free from the haze of shock, her disbelief giving way to a swell of anger. She stared at Ashton, scarcely recognizing the man who sat beside her, as if he had transformed into a stranger cloaked in recklessness and indifference.
“Ashton, what on earth are you saying?” she demanded, her voice sharp and laced with fury. “What do you take me for? Am I just some prize to be wagered away in a game? Do you really mean to gamble with me?”
Ashton didn’t so much as blink, his attention fixed solely on the table. He didn’t respond to her outrage; he simply reached for the deck, drawing his cards with the intensity of a man possessed, each one laid down with deliberation.
Outraged, Alisha stamped her foot, her eyes flashing. She rose to her feet, intent on leaving.
Before she could take a step, a group of muscular men blocked her path, their faces stern. “The game’s already begun,” one of them barked. “Your boyfriend has wagered you. You’re not leaving until it’s over!”
Trapped, Alisha could only watch as Antoni drew three cards with a flourish, flipping them over in a single, sweeping motion.
The crowd inhaled sharply—Antoni’s hand totaled a perfect 21 with just three cards.

Ashton, having drawn six cards, was already at a disadvantage. According to the rules, a player with fewer cards triumphed automatically, without even comparing points.
In other words, even if Ashton somehow managed a miraculous 21 points, his loss was already sealed.
Alisha was baffled by the card game, yet the expressions of the people around her were an open book to her. The scornful smirks on their faces made her heart drop. She turned to Ashton, her eyes brimming with sadness and betrayal.
How could Ashton be so cruel?
Alisha couldn’t grasp his fixation with the game. Was this who he truly was? Had she only just perceived the real Ashton?
Ashton paid her no mind, his gaze locked on the six cards in his hand as if they were his entire universe.
“You’re already beaten,” Antoni declared with a sneer. “Even if you manage to hit 21, I have fewer cards. I win by default!”
But Ashton, who seemed consumed by the game a moment ago, simply narrowed his eyes and cracked a sly grin.
