Chapter 707
Chapter 707:
Despite Malcom’s lackluster culinary skills, he was ready to assist Ashton with prep work as an assistant. The two had arrived together, their sights set on making a strong impression in the competition.
To Malcom, Ashton’s grand ambition of challenging the three major families seemed like a distant dream.
Yet, he couldn’t help but feel confident about this event. Among the numerous local competitors, with the signature dish from Golden Restaurant, Ashton was sure to stand out. If they could rebuild their reputation there, Ashton’s bigger plans might actually stand a chance.
Just as Malcom began envisioning a brighter future, three imposing figures stepped in front of him, cutting off his path.
“Well, well, Malcom! Long time no see. What a coincidence running into you here!” one of them greeted with a sly smile.
Malcom’s daydreams came crashing down. He blinked, finally recognizing the trio standing before him. The confident smile he had been wearing vanished, replaced by a deep scowl.
Ashton, noticing Malcom’s sudden change in mood, turned his attention to the newcomers.
Though he had never seen them in person, they looked oddly familiar.
Then, it clicked. Ashton recalled seeing an old photograph on the Golden Restaurant’s wall—a photo of these very three men standing beside Malcom.
These were the Figueroa siblings: Brewster, Esteban, and Covington—once the star chefs of Golden Restaurant.
They had been poached by the Crawford family’s Pavilion Foods Group, a betrayal that had dealt a significant blow to Malcom’s establishment.
The three men had never met Ashton, and they weren’t particularly interested in him. Their attention was entirely focused on Malcom. While staring at him, a mocking smile was plastered on their faces as if silently ridiculing him.

After Covington had greeted Malcom, the other two exchanged brief glances before following suit. However, their greetings were laced with sharp sarcasm.
“Malcom, I heard that without the three of us, your Golden Restaurant is about to close down. We know your skills, so why bother participating in this competition? Do you really want to make a fool of yourself?”
“Exactly! Without us, you’re nothing. How dare you still dream of using this competition to revive your flagging career! Do you know what you’re doing? It’s like trying to run before you can even walk. How utterly ridiculous!”
Malcom was known for his short temper. So, when he heard their taunts, he was so furious that he couldn’t wait to snap at them.
His eyes flashed with anger as he shot back, “It was me who begged my father to take the three of you in. Without me, you’d still be scrambling for scraps. He even taught you everything he knew. But what did you do in return? Not long after he passed away, you betrayed our restaurant. Now that you’ve found a new boss, you even dare mock me? You three ungrateful scums! I shouldn’t have saved you back then in the first place.”
