After some preparations, Leonardo drove back to the Crawford family’s residence, with Hamlin sitting in the passenger seat—Ashton, on the other hand, lay still in the cramped trunk of the car.

It seemed Stephen had not informed the family’s security personnel about his conflict with Leonardo and Hamlin. When the security guards saw Leonardo and Hamlin, they welcomed the two men with friendly smiles and warm greetings.

For security purposes, the guards had to check the vehicle of every visitor to the Crawford family’s residence. But this time, they only gave Leonardo’s car a cursory glance. It was as if it was a mere formality before allowing it to pass through. The car rolled past the gate. However, Leonardo suddenly drove the car backward, rolled down the window, and smiled at the head security guard.

He asked, “If I remember correctly, your name is Leandro Greville, right?”

Leandro was obviously delighted that Leonardo remembered him. He quickly straightened his clothes and nodded in agreement. “Yes, that’s me. I’m honored that you still remember me, Mr. Miller.”

“I’ve been here many times. Of course, I remember you. Stephen often praises you for doing a good job. He’s very satisfied with your performance. He also mentioned that you’re a retired soldier. I’m short on staff lately. Is there a way you can introduce me to some army retirees? If you recommend some to me, I’ll make sure you’ll be well rewarded. Please tell your colleagues, too. If they have any good candidates, let me know. Or… If you want, you can resign from here and work for me.”

As soon as Leandro heard this, he eagerly stepped forward. His eagerness seemed contagious. The other security guards quickly gathered around, vying to introduce their friends and relatives to Leonardo.

When Hamlin noticed that everyone’s attention was on Leonardo, he tapped the door of the passenger seat three times, his fingers drumming a slow rhythm as he feigned boredom.

Ashton, hidden in the trunk, listened intently to their every word. He immediately understood the signal. He carefully unlatched the trunk, making as little noise as possible. Then, he slipped out of the car and sneaked into the Crawford family’s house.

So, Ashton relied on the rough map provided by Leonardo and Hamlin as he navigated through the grand estate, skillfully avoiding the people coming and going. Soon, he found a hidden door behind an ornamental rock garden near a picturesque pond.

Using his extensive experience in evading detection, he first cut off the electricity to the surveillance cameras around the hidden door before approaching it.

After some deft maneuvering, Ashton easily hacked into the vault’s so-called top security system. He bypassed the identity authentication on the steel door with ease and successfully opened it.

Ashton’s expertise shone through his smooth infiltration of the Crawford family’s high-tech security measures. He was also surprised. It turned out that he could come and go from this house as he pleased without caution.

Was the Crawford family’s security too lax? Or could it be that they deliberately let him in?
