So, Stephen bit back his pain and anger, adopting a more calming tone as he said, “Mr. Red Jack, let’s not play games. Please return the treasures to me, and we can discuss your reward. If it’s the Crawford family’s assets you desire, I’m open to negotiating them.”
But Red Jack dismissed the offer flatly, saying, “You’re too late for regrets. I gave you your chance and you wasted it. Didn’t you once boast that the reason you, the Miller family, and the Nash family had billions was due to these items? That’s to say, what I hold now is worth much more than ten billion!”
Realizing that Red Jack fully grasped the treasures’ worth, Stephen felt a mix of anger and panic.
Yet, if he wanted the treasures back, Stephen knew he had to play along. He said, “What do you want? I’ve already offered to transfer my family’s assets to you. Just give me the treasures back!”
Red Jack laughed lightly and said, “I’ve already told you, I have what I want right here in my hands. You said these items could grant any wish, though at an unknown cost, right? If I had known they existed, the old man wouldn’t have struggled so much. He could have used them to fulfill his wish.”
Stephen didn’t fully understand what Red Jack meant, but he knew he had to try to persuade him. “These items are dangerous,” he said. “The last time they were used, they triggered natural disasters in Staville and the nearby regions that lasted for three years. You must think carefully before using them!”

Red Jack looked unconvinced and retorted, “How can I be sure you’re telling the truth? If they’re really that dangerous, why would you consider using them for just one person, at such a high cost?”
Stephen’s face tensed, and he rushed to justify, but Red Jack cut him off, continuing, “Moreover, even if there is a high cost, why should I care? Do you think I value the lives of others? As long as my wish is fulfilled, the consequences to anyone else are irrelevant to me!”
Just as Red Jack finished his statement, he suddenly felt a strong grip on his head from behind.
Before Red Jack could react, he was hoisted up and then his head was forcefully smashed down onto the floor.
