Chapter 791
Chapter 791:
Still, it didn’t make the emptiness any easier to endure. Loneliness, Ashton realized, was his greatest fear.
It wasn’t the kind of fear that made him shiver or look over his shoulder. It was a deep, numbing dread, a hollow ache that drained him emotionally.
But as Ashton stood in the dark void, he couldn’t help but wonder, if he had lived with loneliness for so long, hadn’t he already overcome it?
He knew Quills wouldn’t offer answers to his questions. He had to uncover the truth on his own.
To conquer his fear, Ashton needed to understand it. He had to face it head-on and decide how to deal with it.
After all, being used to something didn’t mean defeating it. And fearing loneliness didn’t mean he was truly alone anymore.
With this thought, Ashton’s mind began to wander. He reflected on the people who had come into his life during his darkest moments.
When despair threatened to consume him, Rosalie and Selena stood by his side, offering comfort and strength. His closest friend, Isaac, had been a bridge, helping him connect with others.
In Staville, brave souls like Alisha, the fearless police officer, had risked their safety to aid him, while Abrial had been willing to sacrifice her virginity to save him.
Little by little, Ashton realized he wasn’t alone anymore.
This realization sent ripples through his subconscious. Suddenly, faint beams of light pierced the oppressive darkness around him.
The light grew brighter, and as Ashton focused, he saw the figures of Rosalie, Abrial, Alisha, and the others emerging from the gloom.
Each of them carried a light that pushed back the shadows surrounding Ashton. Their presence brought warmth and clarity, and as the darkness retreated, his surroundings shifted. The oppressive dark void faded, and he found himself back in Leonardo’s home.

Quills’ voice interrupted his thoughts, its tone tinged with disbelief. “Unbelievable. In all the thousands of years since we were born, I’ve seen every kind of human fear imaginable. Yet yours… yours is the simplest and purest of all.”
“I’ve dealt with most of the people and things that could threaten me, and the innermost loneliness within me seems to have been quietly chased away,” Ashton remarked with a faint smile.
Quills’ voice resonated, warm with approval. “This trial was designed to make you face your deepest fear. You didn’t just recognize it; you conquered it with ease. I can see no reason to deny you. You’ve proven yourself worthy of being my master.”
Ashton’s smile deepened, though he remained silent. In truth, the trial wasn’t as effortless as it appeared. Often, uncovering the root of a fear was far more challenging than confronting it head-on. But, in the end, he succeeded.
After all, it wasn’t just strength or resolve that carried him through; it was the light in his heart, a light bright enough to banish even the darkest shadows.
“Congratulations on passing Quills’ trial. However, my trial may not be as easy for you.” Snake Fang’s calm voice echoed in Ashton’s mind.
