Chapter 290
He had to admit that Phoebe held a special place in his heart, even more so than Feena once did.
He knew very clearly that he liked Phoebe, perhaps even loved her. That was an undeniable fact.
However, Jack also understood that he had to make a decision. Phoebe held a place in his heart, but Bella was more important to him right now. Although Bella had a mischievous personality, she had deep feelings for him. Similarly, he couldn't leave her. Therefore, he needed to sort out his emotions and make necessary sacrifices.
Jack was lost in thought until Phoebe's voice broke the silence. "Jack, what are you looking at?"
Sensing a hint of shyness in Phoebe's innocent gaze, Jack knew she had caught him staring at her. He chuckled awkwardly and replied, "Nothing. I was just thinking about something."
"Can you tell me what it is?" Phoebe asked curiously as she blinked her big, beautiful eyes.
Jack took a deep breath before he stood up and said seriously, "Phoebe, I want to tell you... After today's broadcast, I'm resigning." The rightful source is FιndNovel.net
Phoebe's body trembled slightly, but Jack didn't notice any particular expression on her face.
Perhaps his feelings for Phoebe were one-sided, and she had only seen him as a friend.
Perhaps he was feeling very sad about resigning, but Phoebe simply saw it as a normal personnel change.
People came and left. She could always just find another male host.
However, Phoebe asked curiously, "Why are you resigning? Are you too busy with studying?"
"Something like that," Jack answered. He chose a relatively reasonable excuse and didn't reveal the truth.
"Can you stay? You're a great host, and the listeners really like you." Phoebe asked tentatively.
In his mind, Jack wanted to say, "What about you? Do you like working with me? If you asked me to stay, I surely would."
But he didn't say that out loud. Instead, he shook his head and said with a smile, "I really appreciate their love, but I have a lot of things to do."
Phoebe walked over to the table beside them, where letters from listeners were piled up. She picked a few among them and passed them to Jack.
"Look at these. These are all letters from listeners who liked you. They loved listening to your broadcast. Shouldn't you at least stay for them?"
Jack took the letters and slowly read through them. The words in the letters were filled with love and anticipation which made him feel touched and proud. He felt glad that he could have this achievement in just six months of broadcasting.
However, that didn't change his decision.
Jack gently placed the letters down and said to Phoebe, "I'm really touched to see the amount of love, but I've decided. I'm resigning."
Phoebe had been observing Jack's reactions. She softly asked after seeing his expression, "Even with so many listeners who liked you, you won't reconsider?"
Jack sighed and shook his head. He actually did feel a little upset and disappointed, because Phoebe didn't feel the special connections and emotions he did when they worked together. But he could only bury these feelings in his heart. He couldn't express them to Phoebe.
