Bella continued venting, "I believe in fate. But after meeting you, I think the

universe is playing a cruel joke on me. Andres is a playboy, and now I end up with a clueless idiot like you. Why is my life so miserable?"

Jack looked awkward and at a complete loss for words.

Bella continued, "And you! You're dumb, slow, unromantic, passive, always walking around in knockoff clothes, and you can't even drink! You're a complete hillbilly!"

Jack sighed but didn't argue back.

After she finished complaining, Bella's tone shifted to self-pity. "I even bragged about you in front of my friends, but now I don't dare to take you out. I'm afraid they'll laugh at me."

Jack's expression darkened. "Then, why did you pick me?"
