“Yes, that same one. I received the news just now, and you’re the first person I’m sharing it with,” he said, grinning.

The ring of my phone made me turn back to my table, and I had no choice but to pick up the call, as it had to do with my personal life.

“Is everything okay?” I asked the bodyguard as soon as I picked up.

“What!” I yelled, widening my eyes in shock.

“What’s wrong? Is everything okay?” he asked. I ignored him and walked away with just my phone.

How could she be dead? I saw her just last night—what could have killed her?

“What were you saying over the phone? What’s going on?” asked the bodyguard as soon as I got to the nurse’s house.

“I’m sorry, ma’am, but the nurse died last night,” he said.

“What do you mean she died? How did she die? I placed you here to watch her so I could get a lead today, and now she’s dead all of a sudden. How did this happen?” I asked angrily.

“She was stabbed to death last night by a strange woman. I saw the woman walk in, but she literally ran out of the house. When I went inside, the nurse was already dead.”

“I placed you here as a guard, yet you couldn’t prevent this disaster. I thought you were competent, but you’ve ruined everything for me. How am I supposed to find out everything I need to know now? Who’s going to tell me what happened? The only lead I had is now gone, and I’m back to being nothing—a nobody,” I ranted, in tears.

“Actually, ma’am, I think I have a clue to what you’ve been searching for. I have a video here on my phone.”

“I could have stopped her death, but I’m not sure if the woman had backup. I didn’t want to lose the clue I have, so I had to leave when the killer was about to walk out. I didn’t want to lose everything,” he said, making me wipe my tears.

“What are you talking about now? Stop beating around the bush and just get to the point.”

“A strange woman was here. She had her face covered with the hoodie she was wearing. From the looks of things, I think she’s someone very popular because she was very cautious, like she didn’t want anyone to see her face. I found her movements suspicious, so I had to eavesdrop on their conversation. It appears that both the strange woman and the nurse did something shady years ago, and the nurse had been blackmailing her.”

“Your presence at the hospital made her call the strange woman, and when it seemed like it was an important piece of information, I recorded the whole thing on my phone. “It’s either this evidence or our lives. If I had acted rashly, that strange woman would have had me killed. She looks desperate to conceal her identity and would be willing to do anything just to achieve that,” he said.
