Chapter 25:

Immediately, I understood the reason behind his unusual behavior. If we hadn’t involved him in this, he would have had no chance of doing what he was about to do.

I watched him approach, each step bringing him closer.

He looked at me with lustful eyes, licking his lips in a way that infuriated me.

I watched in disgust as he muttered something incomprehensible.

I couldn’t imagine myself lying with an ordinary PA.

He wasn’t even close to my standards. I was furious.

It dawned on me what kind of situation I had gotten myself into. My new enemy wasn’t even Amira. It was Adrian!

The mistake we made when we executed the first plan was not allowing him to wear a mask. Had we done that, it would have saved us a lot of trouble by now.

Adrian has sworn that he’s not going down alone, because Amira will eventually return to expose the truth. Adrian doesn’t want to face the consequences alone. He’s sworn to take us all down with him.

Vivienne’s POV

How was it possible that she survived? Adrian told us he did a neat, untraceable job. Could he be lying to us? I thought Sheelah had confirmed the job was well done. How could it be that she survived? I thought she was gone for good. This girl is truly cursed. Now Christian wants her back just as much as he did in the last five years. I never thought things would get this messy.

Definitely, Christian mustn’t find out I’m part of the plot, or he wouldn’t take it lightly with me at all. All I wanted was a good woman for my son, not a cursed one. Amira is cursed, and I can’t watch her become the next Luna of this pack. Her world and Christian’s world are completely different. She’s a slave in this pack, someone whom every soldier and other slaves mock. How could I think such a woman is good for my son? It’s only going to ruin his reputation.

I’m still surprised at how smart she’s turned out to be. Is she really Amira? What took us so long to find out she’s still alive?

“Sheelah… yes… Sheelah, I think I’ll have to make the first move by confessing to Christian that Sheelah was the one who planned to kill Amira with Adrian’s help,” I thought to myself, pacing around the room.

The head maid jolted me out of my thoughts with her several knocks on the metal door.

“Come in,” I said angrily.

“And why are you here?” I asked, sitting on the edge of the bed.

“Ma’am, breakfast is ready,” she replied, bowing her head.

“And is that enough reason for you to break down the doors?” I asked, widening my eyes.

“No, ma’am,” she replied quickly. “Get the hell out of my room right now!” I shouted angrily.

I was really bothered. Christian hasn’t been coming home for days now. Is that how much he loves Amira, that he now stays away from me? Sheelah isn’t helping matters at all. She doesn’t seem to care about him at all.

It’s been more than five days, and still no response from Mico’s Technology and Energy Reservation. It’s all so overwhelming that I can’t even concentrate on thing without Amira flashbacks.
