“All I’m asking for are answers. I need answers to all these questions. For five years, I was just a shadow of myself. I couldn’t live properly because I missed you. Every single day, I kept asking myself why you left me. And now, I finally see you again, only to be greeted with the news that you’re getting married to Mr. Mico’s son. What the hell is going on? I deserve to know at least that,” he said.
Getting in the same car with him was a bad idea. I should have just turned down his request to ride home together.
“We’re here, Mr. Christian. And as for your questions…”
“I have nothing to say to you except this—please focus on your future, Luna,” I said, stepping out of the vehicle with a smile.
As expected, the two vile women were waiting patiently for me outside. The glares on their faces were enough to kill a man—but definitely not me.
“Why is she here, Christian? Just because she’s helping you doesn’t mean she should move in with us,” Sheela said, still glaring at me.
“She is an important guest in this mansion, and I expect her to be treated as such.”
“I still see no reason why you’re here when you don’t even belong here. What exactly do you want? Did you offer to help him just so you could stay close to him for your own selfish reasons?” she asked.
“Miss Sheela, it seems you don’t want me here,” I said with a smile.
“Yes, I don’t want you here. You look like a threat to everyone, and you might even bring your curse back into this mansion. As the woman of this mansion and pack, it’s only natural for me to be worried and do whatever it takes to maintain peace.”
“The last time I checked, you’re just Sheela. You’re not even a Luna yet, and I don’t think you will be anytime soon.”
“And just so we’re clear, I’m here to help Alpha Christian—not you. So do your best to stay out of my way. I’d hate for you to end up in my bad books—it wouldn’t be easy on you if that happened.”

“Is that a threat?” she asked, shaking with anger.
“Stay out of my business, Sheela. Maintain your place with my mother and stop making a fool out of yourself,” Christian said.
“Can you show me to my room? Exchanging words with a woman is the last thing I want to do, and I need a lot of rest,” I said, yawning lazily.
“Come with me. Once you’re settled in, you can come downstairs for dinner so we can welcome you in our own little way,” he said as he walked me inside.
“I’m not interested in dinner. I prefer eating alone, and I love my peace, so I’ll be declining,” I said with a smile.
Alpha Christian’s POV
I walked into my room angrily. I was frustrated that I couldn’t get answers from her, but deep down, I knew she was Amira. There was no way she could look so much like her and still deny it.
She is Amira. But she’s different now—cold, distant, secretive. How do I get her to answer my questions? How do I bring back the person she used to be?
More than that, how do I make her fall for me again? What do I do? How do I even begin?
I sighed silently as the door to my room opened, revealing the two women in my mansion—the only two who ever gave me real trouble. None other than my mother and her accomplice.
