He already has a lot on his plate, even though he’s receiving help from Emily in whatever small way she can, but that doesn’t make him any less busy. He has my businesses to manage, and the pack is also his responsibility. So, I have no reason to add to his stress.
“He doesn’t need to know about this. He has a lot more to worry about,” I said, rolling down my sleeve.
“But I think he deserves to know how his father is doing so that he won’t get angry at me when he finds out about this whole situation in the future,” he insisted.
“You don’t have to worry about that. I’ll tell him myself when the time comes. I want to do it in a way that doesn’t make him feel sad or bad. He still has a lot to learn, and once I’m sure he’s strong enough to handle things on his own, I’ll tell him everything he needs to know,” I assured him.
“I trust you’ll do that, Alpha. I’ll take my leave now,” he said, picking up his bag.
“I’ll see you out then,” I said, walking with him. Unfortunately, as we reached the door, Tristan was standing right there, about to knock.
“Doctor Kyle,” he called with a smile, making me sigh in relief. He hadn’t heard what we just discussed.
“Hey, Tristan,” Doctor Kyle greeted, shaking hands with him.
“Dad, are you okay? Why is the doctor here?” Tristan asked curiously, checking my body for any signs of injury.
“Yes, I’m fine. I called him over for a routine checkup. That’s all,” I lied.
“Okay,” he said with a smile.
“I’d like to have a word with you before you go to the company,” I quickly said, making him stop in his tracks.
“Is everything okay?” he asked as we both walked back to the living area.

“Yes, everything is fine. It’s about Emily.”
“I’m sure you’re aware that she went back to the Moonlight Pack.”
“Yes,” he said quietly.
“You don’t have to feel bad about that. She actually went back there to fight for herself and discover more about who she is. So, I want you to help her as much as you can. I can’t move around much anymore, I’m getting older, and I can’t assist her.”
“Helping her wouldn’t be a problem, but we both know how she is. She’s an independent woman. She loves doing things her own way, which could make it a little difficult to help her.”
“You can do that secretly. She doesn’t have to know you’re helping her. I’m sure you can manage. And as for her relationship with Christian…”
“I’ll advise that we see how things go. Don’t ever feel bad about the decisions she makes. Be content with her choices and keep her close, whether as a friend or as a sister. It’s better to be at peace with everyone than to be in a difficult situation with them.”
“Thanks, Dad. I’ll keep an eye on her and help in any way I can. I’m running late for an important meeting, so I’ll be on my way now,” he said, getting up.
“Have a wonderful day,” I said, nodding my head.
I want to make sure the boy I raised is mature enough to accept the reality of life. I want to see how much of a man he has become. He has been my companion since the disappearance of my daughter and the sudden passing of my wife. He is my son, my only family. Though, I wish my daughter would come to me before I leave.
