Chapter 1051
After all, it wasn't as if the Evanses would move away because of him. Matthew then returned to his car unhurriedly, driving away from Delisnora Bay soon after.
The river flowed eastward steadily, and the current only slowed down when it reached the wide stretch of the river.
All of a sudden, a damp figure emerged by the riverbank, staggering toward the bay. In the dark, his face twisted in agony, while blood trickled down his clenched teeth.
The way he walked was quite strange as well. He was supporting his right arm with his left, but his right arm seemed to be hanging down loosely-it swayed about when he walked too.
Once he reached the river bay, he stopped and felt about his body with his left hand. Unfortunately, he had lost his phone.
He froze briefly before reaching up to remove the pendant hanging around his neck. The pendant was engraved with the word "Connolly", and it was about the size of a coin and as thick as two coins.
The man pressed on the engraved word's first letter, and the pendant snapped open instantly, revealing a round interface. He then reached out to the screen and pressed the call button.
Very quickly, the call was picked up. On the other side of the pendant-shaped phone came a man's rich, deep voice, saying, "Renzo, don't use this phone. You're supposed to use it only when it's absolutely necessary..."
Lorenzo didn't wait for his father to finish speaking. "Come and save me, Dad! I got injured. I'll send you my location, so send a plane over to save me!"
His father, Topaz, had his own voice shaking as he asked, "Renzo, how are you doing? Are you seriously injured?"
Lorenzo was in so much pain he couldn't endure it any longer. "I don't wanna talk anymore. It hurts so bad! I feel like I'd die if you don't come and save me now."
Topaz froze. He didn't think it'd turn out to be such a big issue. "Alright. I won't say anything else. You just hold on, Renzo. I'll come and save you now!"
Just as Lorenzo was about to hang up the call, he suddenly thought of his injuries and said, "Bring a doctor with you. Quick! Find me using the location I sent you."
Meanwhile, Cameron sat in his car dazedly. The car was heading to the city, and just as they were about to go downtown, Cameron shouted abruptly, "Don't go downtown. I'm heading back to Mist ale City now."
The driver was arranged by Leopold for Cameron, so he knew the purpose behind going into Lambda City.
The driver slowed down and asked tentatively, "Aren't we gonna kill Matthew?"
Upon hearing that, Cameron replied haughtily, "Are you fucking dumb? You want me to kill Matthew? How am I supposed to do that? I won't succeed even if he stands still for me to kill him!"
Then, the driver suddenly remembered how Lorenzo's arm broke when he punched Matthew. Lorenzo could break a horsetail reed with a single punch.
Yet, his own arm would break when he punched Matthew whereas Matthew would remain fine.
He frowned and asked, "Say, Mr. Fuller, do you really think there are cultivators with such steeled bodies?"
The driver knew a little about
cultivators since he worked closely
for Leopold. However, all the
cultivators whom he met were only slightly stronger and quicker than“, ordinary people-nothing more.
On the contrary, Matthew was so unnaturally strong that it felt almost surreal, like a dream.
Cameron shook his head. "Back in the day, I wouldn't have believed it if anyone said that cultivators could grow to possess such strength. But I changed my mind as soon as I witnessed it myself.
"Our chance for revenge is completely off the table, so let's head home!"
The driver hummed
in
acknowledgment and looked at the two cars further into the distance. Then, he did a 180 and said, "I'll turn around now, but please inform Mr. Leopold about it. I'm afraid he might get angry when I return."
Cameron nodded and said, "That's true. I'll call him now."
As soon as he said that, Cameron fished his phone out and dialed Leopold. When the call went
through, Cameron first explainemet
what happened at Delisnora Bay before he said Grandpa, let's Postpone our revenge first
coming back now."
There was silence at the other end of the phone.
Once the car was driven out of downtown, it turned to the highway leading to Mistvale City.
Until now, Leopold had yet to speak, so Cameron voiced out again.
"Grandpa, it's hard to explain things over the phone. I'll hang up first and tell you everything once I get home."
Just as he was about to hang up, Leopold's voice came through with a sense of urgency. "Don't... Don't come back."
