Chapter 682
Matthew's eyes blazed with fury as he listened.
Upon seeing Matthew, Lorraine burst into tears and ran up to him. "Dad, that jerk Tobby scratched my face! I'm going to be ugly now!"
Matthew looked down at Lorraine's face and spotted three red scratches. His rage intensified. His beautiful Larraine had been scratched by Tobby.
Matthew's fist clenched tightly as he turned to Sophia. His voice was cold and chilling like it had come from the depths of hell.
"Tobby scratched Lorraine! And how you dare to push my mom?"
Sophia glanced at Matthew, unimpressed by his simple attire, and sneered. "Why wouldn't Tobby scratch her? It's Lorraine's fault for provoking him.
"As for Lilian, she's so old, she should have known better than to pick a fight with a five-year-old. And now you want Tobby to apologize?"
Suddenly, a hand shot out. A loud slap landed across Sophia's face, cutting off her words.
Sophia screamed, and her left cheek went numb and swelled rapidly. She touched it and felt a sharp, needle-like pain that made her gasp.
Clutching her face in disbelief, Sophia stared at Matthew. "Y-You hit me?"
Matthew remained silent but responded with another slap. The crisp sound echoed through the room, and five purple finger marks quickly appeared on Sophia's face.
Sophia's expression twisted in pain, and she shouted in disbelief. "How dare you... you actually hit me?"
Once again, Matthew answered with a slap.
This slap was even harder, knocking Sophia to the ground. She gritted her teeth, her face contorted in agony as she hissed, "What gives you the right to hit me? My husband is "
Slap after slap rained down on her, more than a dozen in quick succession.
Blood trickled from the corner of Sophia's mouth as she curled into a corner, trembling in fear. She didn't dare to say another word.
For the first time, Sophia was terrified, completely out of words, unable even to mention Joshua's powerful position.
Lillian was stunned as she had never seen Matthew being so angry. Her mind went blank as she watched the scene unfold.
Lorraine held onto Lillian's hand, staring wide-eyed at Matthew's outburst. She seemed shocked by his fury.
Kelly, who had been standing to the side, pulled out her phone and started texting the principal. Things had escalated beyond her control.
Sophia's face felt swollen and numb like it had doubled in size. Hatred simmered inside her, but she didn't dare to show it.
Sophia was too frightened to reject Matthew's demands. "Lillian... I-I'm sorry. I shouldn't have pushed you. And, Lorraine, I owe you an apology too. Tobby... he's just so disobedient."
Just then, footsteps echoed from the hallway, followed by Joshua walking into the reception room.
Sophia burst into tears and threw herself into Joshua's arms after seeing him. "Joshua, look at me! I was nearly beaten to death! Why did it take you so long to get here?"
Joshua took one look at Sophia's swollen face and was stunned. "This was just a quarrel between children! How did you end up getting hit?"
Sophia sobbed while saying, "I was only trying to reason with them, but Matthew showed up and started hitting me without even hearing my side. He bullied me just because he's a man.
"Joshua, you can't let him get away with this!"
Joshua turned to the others in the room, his face hardening as he spotted a man comforting a little girl. Fury flashed in his eyes. "Did you not tell him who I am? Didn't you mention what I do for a living?"
