When Matthew heard what he said, he had his heart caught in his throat. He was worried that Pierre would really sell the medical literature for a dollar because the medical literature's worth was priceless.

"You... didn't sell it, did you?" Matthew asked.

Pierre shook his head and said, "I initially planned to sell it, but my friend stopped me from doing so."

Having heard what he said, Matthew sighed in relief. "Your friend's got impeccable taste."

Pierre then shook his head again, saying, "That's not it. She merely thinks it's not worth selling a book for a dollar and still having to owe the junk collector favors."

Never had Matthew imagined that it was because of this particular reason that Pierre still had the medical literature with him.

Still, he felt really grateful to his friend and gave a thumbs up, saying, "Your friend... has got a backbone. She's the type who wouldn't easily owe people favors."

Pierre then nodded. "Yeah, she's that kind of person. Not only that but she's actually really pretty too, and she was very pure and simple. She would always stay away from men she didn't know and I've never seen her eating with a man even once even till now.

"She's the dream woman every man wants to have, but it's a shame, really. If it weren't for the failures I've met with all these years, having become the joke of the hospital, and getting seen as a weirdo by my townsmates, she would've probably become my wife by now."

Matthew was a little surprised to hear such high praise coming from Pierre about a woman. He was also taken aback when he used the word "dream woman" to describe that friend of his. After all, even children nowadays weren't that pure or simple, let alone women.

Matthew frowned and asked, "Is there such a woman?"

Pierre then sighed regretfully, saying, "Of course. I've met one. She used to be my neighbor, and we grew up together.

"She was the only child in her family, and we had once discussed marriage plans with our families. But because things were going downhill on my end, our engagement was pushed back.

"But my career kept going downhill, and even our marriage plans were canceled in the end. She's a very good woman, though, and she's still single to this day."

At the mention of his neighbor, Matthew guessed at once that it must be Alyssa. He recalled how she mistook him for the male service provider she had called up when they first met.

It left a very deep impression on Matthew because it was the first time he had ever seen a woman calling up a male service provider to their homes.

With that in mind, Matthew thought it was a little too absurd for Pierre to be describing Alyssa as the dream woman every man wants. He couldn't help but shake his head.

When Pierre saw Matthew shaking

his head, he sighed as well. "You think it's a shame too, don't you? Such a great woman-so pure and loyal Why couldn't she just find another man to marry? Why waitfor me?"

He wanted to tell Pierre just what sort of person Alyssa was, but he stopped himself from doing so because he had promised Alyssa not to tell Pierre about it.

Matthew didn't wish to dive further into the story about Pierre and Alyssa, so he switched the topic. "Let's not talk about her anymore. Where's your medical literature if you never sold it, then?"

Pierre had been chattering away happily earlier and seemed to show a hint of disappointment when Matthew switched the topic.

Nevertheless, he said, "Alright. Let's get back to business. I put the medical literature on the shelf back then since I never read it.

"I have a friend named Carson Davenport, and he was studying under my father as

an apprentice. After my father passed away, he frequently came over to play.

"He loves traditional medicine and has practically read every single medical literature in my house. Then, he found the Five Integrations of Traditional and Modern Medicine and took it away of course didn't mind it.

"So we'll be heading to his house for the medical literature now."
