Chapter 961
Everyone in the hall turned their heads toward Carson, revealing looks of shock and doubt.
It had been their tradition for years before this to return to their rooms to rest after their meals, and they would wait for someone to message them in the group, telling them what their next activity would be.
Hence, they never expected someone to bring up how they should be sharing and exchanging medical skills.
It was just like a herd of migrating rhinos moving in the same direction, except that one unconventional one who suddenly turned around and went in the opposite direction. That was Carson-the odd one out.
Francis' eyes were cold and haughty. Carson actually dared to question the arrangements he had planned. Didn't that just mean that he was challenging Francis' authority?
Deep down, Francis was fuming with anger, but he maintained a smile on his face and asked, "Who are you?"
Carson hesitated for a moment before he answered, "I'm Carson Davenport, and I'm from Kirkshire."
Francis raised his brows. "I meant your job, like which hospital do you work in?"
Upon hearing that, Carson's expression darkened. Though he had opened a clinic himself, he didn't want to let anyone know, because everyone would shun him for it each time he mentioned his clinic.
Now, he didn't believe in himself anymore, and he mumbled barely audibly, "I... I'm a traditional medicine practitioner."
Francis froze for a bit when he heard Carson's response, then let out a mocking smile. "So, you're a traditional medicine practitioner. What's your academic qualification, then?"
The rest of the doctors in the hall carried hints of scorn and mockery in their expressions, looking at Carson as if he were a fool.
Just as Carson was about to answer, he paused as he took a look at the crowd. He couldn't bring himself to answer anymore when he saw their expressions.
But Francis kept urging him. "Hey, I'm asking you a question. What's your academic qualification? Are you deaf?"
Seeing as he couldn't continue dodging the question, Carson replied helplessly, "I have a degree."
Then, Francis scoffed, but he quickly controlled his expression, saying, "Do you know what the lowest level of academic qualification everyone here possesses? It's a master's degree. Just where did you find the courage to join us when you've only graduated with a master's degree?"
Carson frowned as he looked at Francis, raising his voice as he said," I came here only to exchange medical knowledge and learn new, shared medical skills. Now that we've finished out meal, shouldn' we be exchanging and sharing our skills?"
Initially, Francis planned to shut it down with a few stern words and end the charade. However, Carson's genuine interest stirred up his mischievous side, and he decided to play along.
"You wanted to exchange your medical skills, didn't you? Fine then. Let's start with you. What will you be sharing with us today?" Francis asked wickedly.
Carson froze in place. This was the first time he had attended a medical conference, and he had come with an attitude to learn which was why he never prepared himself to actually share anything.
"I... I haven't prepared anything. Why don't we let the other doctors go first?" Carson suggested.
Francis then smiled about playfully, saying, "You don't have to prepare for anything. This is a medical conference, so you can just voice up and talk about whatever you want."
Carson thought for a little, then he suddenly remembered the contents of the Five Integrations of Traditional and Modern Medicine.
There were some things worth sharing inside, so he thought it over and said, "Then, let me share a little about my insights, just to get the ball rolling.
"First things first, there are a lot of sects in traditional medicine, and I'm a traditional medicine practitioner from Harmona Sect."
Right after, Francis raised his hand and interrupted, "Are there a lot of different sects in traditional medicine? What's Harmona Sect?"
There was a glint of ridicule in his eyes as he asked the question. Francis wanted Carson to talk more because then he would be making more mistakes.
It was as if he knew Carson's clothes had a tear in them, which exposed his body, while Carson himself remained clueless.
Instead of sparing Carson and saving him some dignity, Francis made sure that Carson spun around and displayed all of his flaws to the crowd.
