Chapter Thirty–Nine: The Hot Kiss
Cassienne still couldn’t understand what was going on in the mind of Corren. He just stood there, looking at her with those green eyes of his as if she was a work of art.
Her cheeks flushed pink. Her heart continued to beat in ways she couldn’t understand herself.
While she was trying to handle herself and the way her heart fluttered just by being this close. She suddenly felt soft lips pressed on hers. Her eyes widened in shock.
His cologne invaded her nose and she breathed him in. His hands wrapped her waist as he demanded she open her mouth.
Cassienne was turned on. This feeling was foreign to her, but it felt good. But at the same time, she felt like shend shouldn’t be doing something like this with her boss.
Her hands went up and were on his chest, pushing him away, gently.
He didn’t fight it. Corren let her be, and stepped away from her. He ran his hand over his face and through his dark brown hair.
“Fuck,” he muttered and chuckled.
“I am sorry,” he said, shaking his head, amused by what he just did.
Cassienne nodded. Her entire face had turned red now.
“You seemed to like kissing random people, Mr Thornwyck.” She finally spoke.
Cassienne frowned immediately. He narrowed his eyes. “No,” he replied. “I am sorry, I know this looks crazy, even reckless. But I don’t know why, it was the way I feel about you.”
“But I don’t feel that way about you, Mr Thornwyck. You don’t just kiss people for the fun of it. Kissing is intimate.” Cassienne lectured.
“I will appreciate it if you don’t do that again. You are my boss, and I respect you so much. But kissing you I think is rather too intimate and if it continues, I might leave this work for I don’t thin-”
“I am sorry. It will never happen again, Miss Rhodes,” Corren cut her off before she could finish her sentence.
“We got the contract.” He began. “I was just too happy and the fact that you contributed to the success.” He passed.
Cassienne cut in immediately. “So you kissed me because I contributed to the company’s success?” She asked.
“If another woman had been the one, you would have kissed her too. Is that what you mean, Mr Thornwyck?”
“No. That’s not what I meant.”
Corren didn’t know how to break it to her. How was he supposed to tell her that he has feelings for her? Even if he did tell her, she wouldn’t have believed it.
“You know what. Just forget that this ever happened. But yes, I am happy. And if it were in normal circumstances, I will still kiss you, Cassienne. And that was the truth.”
Then he turned and walked out of her office.
Cassienne just opened her mouth widely. But no words came out. She couldn’t believe what just happened.

She actually felt something when he kissed her. But her mind screamed no. However, her body wanted to feel
more.
She shook the thought away. She might be divorced now, and she actually wasn’t interested in any relationship. But if she could just live her life just like Daisy, she would have loved it. But still, she felt like she was doing the wrong thing.
Her hands went over her black hair. She felt her life becoming complicated. And if there was anything she detested. She hates complications.
She just wanted to work. Her career was what matters to her now, but yet, she couldn’t get that feeling out of her system. The way Corren’s lips moved and felt on her lips was something she wished she could feel again.
The way his hands wrapped around her waist as he pulled her closer to him, his cologne, everything about that man always reminds her about her ex. She had wanted that from Dreston.
Whenever she was that close to Dreston. Her heart always flutters, that same feeling was what she felt with Corren. But she felt more with Corren. Was it because of the kiss?
Dreston has never kissed her before. She didn’t even know how his lips would feel if he had kissed her.
“Snap out of it, Cassienne. Don’t be insane. Dreston is now in your past. Corren should be your focus.”
What? What was that? Was she even considering it?
Is this how pathetic her life had become? She shook her head and sat down and began to round up on her work.
“Finally, we’re going out tonight.”
Daisy’s voice startled Cassienne.
“Jesus Christ, Daisy, can’t you knock?” Cassienne snapped at her.
Daisy walked inside grinning. “What’s the fun in that? Besides, the door wasn’t locked.”
Daisy sank into the chair across from Cassienne’s desk.
“Wait, your face. What is with your face?” Daisy asked, still grinning.
Cassienne’s hand touched her flushed face as if she was searching for something there.
“What do you mean? There is nothing on my face.” She replied.
That funny knowing look. That was how Daisy was looking at Cassienne right now.
“Oh my God.” Daisy whispered.
“What?” Cassienne got scared.
“You’ve been kissed. Tell me, I was right?”
Cassienne couldn’t reply. She was shocked.
But Daisy was beaming more now. She leaned forward and rested her elbows on the desk. Her eyes glitter with playfulness.
“Was it that handsome hot man from earlier? Or, was it Corren?”
Cassienne’s eyes widened. How the hell was she able to tell that someone had kissed her?
