Chapter 472

The agreement was fully stamped and signed; Glenn had clearly prepared it a while ago.

He had drafted this contract the moment Evangeline decided to return to UME.

In his heart, a part of UME always belonged to her.

When she needed it, this place would be her sanctuary.

However, as soon as she returned, she became a target for everyone. Even Theo had held strong reservations about her. Glenn, of course, believed she deserved the shares, but he knew others wouldn't see it that way.

Perhaps even she didn't believe she deserved them.

So, Glenn had been waiting for the right moment.

And this was it.

Evangeline looked up.

Glenn's gaze was steady and serious.

But she could read his thoughts in his eyes.

Glenn was so single-mindedly focused on technology and engineering that he was often oblivious when it came to emotional matters. Most of the time, Evangeline thought of him as a hopelessly straightforward guy who couldn't read between the lines.

Yet, at certain moments, the depth of his emotional perception surprised her. Evangeline smiled and took the contract from his hand.

Perhaps there was a bit of luck involved in landing this deal, but it had undeniably solved UME's pressing crisis. She felt it was right to accept.

Besides, discussing the division of profits had been a long-standing tradition between them since UME's inception. She felt neither awkward nor undeserving.

After all, friendship was friendship, and business was business.

Evangeline signed it without hesitation, handing one copy back to him. "Thank you. Tessa was right about you. You really are a good partner."

Glenn paused, not responding to her comment.

Instead, he said, "I had the finance department recalculate the returns on Mr. Lockridge's recent investments and readjusted the dividend ratio..."

With that, Glenn pulled out another contract.

Evangeline's heart skipped a beat.

The investments were made with money she'd gotten from Soren, not Finn.

Finn was too smart. If Glenn changed the dividend ratio, he would immediately sense that something was off.

Seeing that Glenn was about to send a photo of the contract to Finn, Evangeline hastily snatched it from his hand.

Glenn looked at her, confused.

Evangeline forced an unnatural

smile "He's still recovering. He. probably doesn't want to i

bothered with something so trivial."

“Just give the contract to me. I'll find a chance to get him to sign it.”

Evangeline was a terrible liar. Worried Glenn would see through her, she quickly made an excuse and hurried away.

Meanwhile, the Lockridge estate was in utter chaos.

The night was as dark as spilled ink.

In the living room, Victor sat on the sofa, his expression cold and grim. Before him stood two long lines of people.

The lines were so long they stretched nearly to the estate's main gate.

There were men and women, servants and members of the Lockridge family.

Many had been dragged from their beds and were still in thin pajamas, shivering in the crisp autumn night.

Every five meters, a guard stood

maintaining order. Their faces were

"Mr. Lockridge," Madden ventured, "shall we... check them one by one?"

Victor lifted his gaze slightly. "Yes."

Madden sighed inwardly and gestured for the first row to step forward.

The people began to file past him, one by one.
