Chapter 324

“Ensuring your safety is the bare minimum for our family,” he said, his tone carrying a gentle

reassurance.

Elissa could tell he was trying to comfort her, even if just a little. She didn’t fuss over it, simply replied, “Thank you.” The source of thɪs content is Find1Novel.net

After expressing her gratitude, she sat back down and returned to her notes, continuing to draft the meal plan.

Mrs. Wilkinson’s pulse was weak–jumping straight to hearty meals wouldn’t be wise. It would be better to start by strengthening her digestion with gentle, nourishing dishes.

Just then, Jesse heard the elevator chime and leaned in, speaking quietly, “Dr. Drummond, keep working. If you need anything, just call me.”

“Alright,” Elissa nodded, her pen already moving again.

Jesse stepped out. As he entered the living room, he saw Tristan Wilkinson peeling grapes for Suzanne and asking, “What happened outside just now?”

“Matriarch Paige Murphy showed up,” Jesse replied, not hiding anything. “First she tried to force her way in, and after Dr. Drummond went out, she tried to drag her off.”

“Drag her off?” Tristan frowned. “I thought Matriarch Paige Murphy was supposed to be kind to her?”

The Wilkinson family had heard rumors that the Murphys had once adopted a child. But the fact that Paige Jensen had mistreated Elissa–only Rex Wilkinson knew about that, and he was never one to gossip. So the rest of the family hadn’t paid much attention to what went on in the Murphy household, and didn’t know the truth.

Jesse gave a slight shrug. “Well, she sure didn’t look very kind just now.”

Suzanne brushed away the grape Tristan offered and sighed, “This poor girl must have had a rough

time.”

If someone could be so brazen about trying to haul her away in front of others, who knows what she did when no one was watching?

Jesse nodded. “Yeah. But I’ve already spoken to the Murphys. They shouldn’t trouble Dr. Drummond again, at least for now.”

Tristan agreed. “You did the right thing.”.

Suzanne asked, “Where’s Dr. Drummond?”

“She’s in the study, writing up a meal plan for you.”

“In that case, go tell the kitchen that Dr. Drummond will be joining us for lunch,” Suzanne instructed.

At that, both Tristan and Jesse were momentarily surprised. Over the years, Suzanne had rarely socialized with outsiders, let alone invited anyone to join her at the table. Even the most distinguished women of society had been turned away at her door. For her to invite someone herself–how could Tristan and Jesse refuse?

Jesse nodded at once. “I’ll go right now.”

When Elissa finished writing, she brought the two pages out and handed them to Jesse. “Mrs. Wilkinson’s appetite isn’t great, so I’ve listed plenty of options. She can choose whatever she feels like eating each day.”

“There aren’t any special dietary restrictions, just as long as she avoids anything cold.”

Jesse glanced over the pages, gratitude in his eyes. “Thank you. By the way, my parents would like you to join us for lunch. Would that be alright?”

Elissa didn’t mind. “Are you sure I wouldn’t be intruding?”

“Of course not!”

Since Elissa didn’t refuse, Jesse asked the staff to set an extra place.

As everyone made their way to the dining room, Elissa’s gaze drifted to a family portrait displayed on a side table in the living room.

There were nine people in the photograph–four adults and five children.

But Elissa remembered: the Wilkinson family only had four siblings.

She paused for a moment. Jesse noticed and, the light in his eyes dimming, quietly explained, “The little girl in my mother’s arms is my youngest sister. Years ago… she went missing.”
