Chapter 1037

Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess · Dana E.

Leah, always one to keep up appearances, never went anywhere without her trusty mirror. So, when she saw her bangs were a total disaster, she lost her cool. Furious, she smashed the mirror to the ground, unable to handle the horror of it all. "This hair is a gift from my parents, and you're trying to mess with it? I'll make you pay for this!"

Fueled by anger, Leah pulled out a sleek, slender sword and lunged at Oliver with fierce intent. "You little brat, I'll leave you all alone, just you wait!"

She was ready to throw down, but Oliver stayed calm, about to make his move when Josefina's dagger suddenly appeared, blocking Leah's attack.

Leah was floored as Josefina's dagger sliced her sword clean in two. She couldn't believe it—her prized weapon, gone just like that.

Fuming, Leah snapped, "Fiona, I can't believe you'd stick up for a guy like that. Can't sleep without one, huh?"

Josefina casually blew the dust off her dagger and smirked. "Leah, sounds like you're speaking from experience. How else would you know what it's like to miss a man at night?"

Leah was left speechless for a moment.

Watching the banter unfold, Oliver realized Leah and Josefina weren't just enemies -they had a complicated, love-hate kind of friendship.

He stood by Josefina, keeping quiet, letting her handle the situation. When the time came, he'd step in.

Leah, clenching the remains of her broken sword, was clearly frustrated, her teeth grinding in annoyance.

"Fiona, you're pathetic!"

"And you're not? You tried to use that ridiculous perfume to poison me."

Leah's eyes flickered with a trace of guilt. "I was just doing a job, okay? You made some enemies, not my problem. If I hadn't gone easy on you, you wouldn't be here nagging about your bangs!" Leah shot Josefina a glare.

Oliver raised an eyebrow. "Not enemies, huh?"

In a low voice, Josefina explained, "Leah and I have this weird thing. She's envious

of my looks and my mad skills. It's a mix of love and hate."

Leah snapped back, "Fiona, get real! Who's jealous of you? Who even wants what you have? Your guy right there he'll think you're into girls?"

t you wys..

Oliver, as serious as ever, chimed in, "Not a chance."

Just as Leah was about to point out that Oliver trusted Josefina, he added a zinger. "My wife's taste isn't that bad."

Leah muttered angrily, "Where's my knife?"

She started searching, but Josefina slammed a knife into the table with a loud thud, the sound echoing through the room.

Leah, a little rattled, sat down. Josefina demanded, "Leah, spill the beans."

With Josefina's commanding presence, Leah knew she had no choice but to talk.

"Someone paid big bucks to target your unborn child. I picked it up from the task list because they promised a billion Fiona, your kid's worth fortune!"

"What task list?" Oliver's interest was piqued by this crucial detail.

Leah replied, "Ask your woman. She's the brains behind the website."

Oliver was taken aback. Another one of Josie's secrets out in the open?

Josefina continued, "Leah, tell me about the person you dealt with. Any unique features?"

"None. The person was just a rookie, really green."

Leah's gaze drifted to Oliver's striking features. Jeez, what a figure, what a face, like

a grand double door.

She couldn't help but feel a twinge of

jealousy Fiona, whatever she did

Bailed it. Everything she touched

turned to gold.

Leah leaned back in her chair, trying to show just how fed up and helpless she felt.
