Chapter 1039

Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess · Dana E.

In the bedroom, Oliver swung open the safe and retrieved two gleaming golden keys.

"Tomorrow, head over to the second villa on the east side," he instructed. "The butler will show you which lock to open. This key here, it unlocks the basement. Josefina, I'm trusting you with them. You take charge."

Oliver's tone was so earnest, it felt like he was handing her his most prized possessions. Josefina was puzzled, just about to ask what was going on when Oliver pulled her close with a warm chuckle.

"Think of it like a treasure hunt while you're home these next few days," he said. "Give yourself something to look forward to, okay?"

"Alright, we'll do it your way," Josefina replied, a gentle smile forming as she nestled into Oliver's embrace, feeling utterly secure. What truly touched Josefina about Oliver was this very sense of security. It was that feeling which made her willing to spend the rest of her life with him. Under the soft, amber glow of the lamp, Josefina curled up in Oliver's arms, enveloped in a cocoon of warmth and contentment.

...

The next morning, the Harrison family awoke with a sense of unease after Josefina and Oliver's late return the previous night. Hattie mulled over it, suspecting something might be amiss, but kept her thoughts to herself to avoid worrying her parents.

Grandpa Robert announced, "I haven't played chess with Brandon in ages. How about your mom and I head over to the Baldwin family for a few days? It'll give us a chance to visit Josie."

Hattie chimed in, "I'll go too. If Josie needs anything, having her mom nearby would be best."

Emily nodded in agreement, "Hattie's right. Let's do that."

Hattie continued, "Let me pack a few things. Mom, Dad, you should grab some clothes too. We'll head over together in a bit."

Garrett, looking puzzled, interjected, "Mind if I tag along?"

Hattie shook her head, "You'd better stay put. You get home late from work every day. You won't be of much help there. Besides, we've decided-you'll stay here with the boys while I go look after my precious daughter."

Garrett watched the trio leave the table in a hurry, chopsticks still in hand, feeling bit worn out. He wanted to see his precious daughter too! He abandoned his breakfast and headed upstairs to discuss the situation with Hattie.

By the time Josefina woke up, Oliver had already left for work. She slipped into her cozy fleece

pajamas, her hair casually tied up in a messy bun and bun and tucked her phone

and the two keys into her pocket. As she descended the stairs, the butler was already waiting in the living room.

"Mrs. Baldwin, Mr. Oliver has briefed me. I'll escort you there."

"Thank you," Josefina replied.

"It's no trouble at all. It's an honor to assist you," Linden said, leading the way with Josefina following behind.

Their first stop was where the first key fit. In addition to the key, Josefina needed to enter a fingerprint and password, which Oliver had given her the night before. She punched it in and the door swung open.

"Please, step inside, Mrs. Baldwin," Linden said, his demeanor respectful as he followed her in. The moment Josefina stepped inside, she was taken aback by what she saw.

"These are Mr. Oliver's treasures and

some other items. You'll understand

better if you take a look," Linden explained, handing Josefina a tablet to inventory Nassets. Everything was neatly categorized and recorded on the device. Josefina sat down, scrolling through the list, her mind spinning with one word: extravagant! The room felt like one gigantic vault.
