Chapter 1045
It was lunchtime, and instead of sticking around at her own company, Josefina decided to pop over to Luke's workplace and treat everyone to a meal.
Logan was already in the middle of demolishing a hearty portion of mashed potatoes and gravy when he noticed a familiar figure approaching. He quickly grabbed his bowl and dashed over. "Mentor!" he called out with enthusiasm.
His booming voice quickly got everyone's attention as they turned to see Josefina's arrival.
Luke stepped out of his office, beaming from ear to ear. "Boss, you're here! Thanks a ton for the lunch. You really didn't have to!"
"Thank you, Ms. Josefina!"
"This food is incredible, thank you, Ms. Josefina!"
Voices of appreciation echoed throughout the room.
Josefina smiled warmly. "I should be the one thanking you all for looking out for Logan and being such great friends."
Logan, standing tall beside Josefina, made her look almost tiny by comparison. He scanned the room with an intense gaze, still holding his bowl. "Mentor, shouldn't they be thanking me for putting up with them?" he said with a playful smirk.
The room fell silent for a brief moment before laughter broke out.
Josefina chuckled, shaking her head. "Apologies, Logan tends to speak his mind without much of a filter."
Luke joined in, "Boss, you might not know, but he's the best we've got-hands down. Whenever Logan spars with us, he knows exactly when to stop. Otherwise, we'd all be limping around!"
Logan puffed out his chest proudly. "Of course! I'm super lenient with them."
After finishing his meal, Logan dutifully washed his bowl and tucked it back into his locker with satisfaction.
Luke lowered his voice to Josefina, "Boss, your protege is a real gem. He's sharp as a tack and picks things up in no time. Just the other day, we showed him how to browse the internet, and he was zipping through it like a seasoned pro."
Josefina glanced over at Logan, who was meticulously slicing fruit, each piece perfectly even as if measured with a ruler.
Watching this, Luke remembered something. "You know, even though
Logan's always cheerful around us, caught him yesterday looking really intense while on the computer."
Josefina raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"
"Logan uses that computer over there. Let me take him out for a bit so you can check it out."
"Sure, just tell him it's something I want, and he'll be off quicker than a flash," Luke suggested with a wink.
With that, Luke managed to escort the still fruit-slicing Logan out of the office.
Josefina quickly took a seat at the computer and turned it on. As she sifted through
the browser history, she noticed some entries had been deleted.
Time to put her skills to the test.
Using her advanced computer skills, Josefina Successfully retrieved the news articles Logan had erased They were related to a faboratory incident-something Logan had evidently stumbled upon.
A chill ran through Josefina. Logan's intelligence was off the charts. His sharpness meant he could easily see through complex matters. With his memories coming back,
Josefina was almost certain he was recalling past events.
Whether this was a good or bad thing for Logan remained a mystery.
After restoring the browser history, Josefina shut down the computer and quickly messaged Alfie to update him on Logan's situation.
Before long, Luke returned with Logan and a stash of groceries.
One of the employees pinched their nose, jokingly asking, "Who let one rip in here?"
Luke rolled his eyes. "No one did! It's the durian I got for the boss."
Logan trailed behind, carrying two large durians, his expression clearly indicating he wasn't a fan of the fruit's distinctive odor.
