Chapter 1109
Josefina stormed out of the room, her heels clacking sharply on the polished wooden floor.
"Josie!" Mandy called after her, but it was no use; Josefina was already halfway down the street.
Percy hurried out, hoping to catch a glimpse, but she was long gone.
"What's got into Josie?" Mandy asked softly, worry etched on her face.
"No clue," Percy replied, scratching his head. "But she insisted you stick around and learn. Come on, I'll show you the ropes."
Taking Josefina's instructions to heart, Percy was dedicated to guiding Mandy. Mandy didn't press for more. She knew Josefina had her secrets and respected them enough to leave them be.
Meanwhile, Josefina was weaving through the city traffic, dialing Oliver's number.
At that moment, Oliver was deep in a meeting. His phone buzzed, stopping him mid- sentence. The executives exchanged confused looks, expecting someone to get an earful.
But Oliver simply picked up, glancing at George, his right-hand man. "Hey, love," Oliver's voice was as gentle as a summer breeze, leaving everyone in the room wide-eyed.
Wait, love? Since when did Oliver have a wife? And why hadn't they heard? Poor woman, they thought-she must be tough as nails to handle Oliver.
George cleared his throat, drawing attention back to him as Oliver stepped out, phone in hand.
"What? I'm on my way," Oliver's face turned serious. He hung up and hurried to the parking lot to meet Josefina.
Their cars arrived almost together. Oliver quickly jumped out and opened the door for Josefina.
"Josie, slow down a bit," he urged.
"I can't, Oliver, this is urgent," Josefina shot back, grabbing her medical kit and heading straight for the building. Thankfully, she wore sneakers today; they made the quick pace a tad easier.
Before she knew it, Oliver had lifted her into a bridal carry, and she instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck.
"This way's quicker," Oliver said, carrying her and the kit as if they were weightless, moving with purpose.
They soon reached the scene where Darren was waiting. Josefina had briefed Darren earlier, and his curiosity had brought him there.
Oliver gently set Josefina down,
standing protectively by her side.ex
Darren watched them, a hint
nostalgia in his eyes, thinking of his own youth.
"Darren, let's head inside," Josefina said firmly. It wasn't time for small talk-it was time to get to the bottom of things.
When Dominic was brought out, he looked gaunt and defeated, a shadow of his former self.
Oliver stood next to Josefina, alert and ready. He gestured for her to sit and let him handle it.
Dominic looked around, his head hanging low.
"You're not the real Dominic," Oliver stated bluntly.
Dominic lifted his head slowly, a sly grin on his face. "Really, Oliver? You came all this way just to say that?"
Josefina watched Dominic closely, giving Darren a subtle nod.
In a flash, Dominic found himself restrained.
"Let me go!" Dominic yelled, struggling against the ropes.
Josefina picked up a syringe, its needle thick and intimidating, more suited for livestock.
"What are you planning to do?" Dominic spat, panic in his eyes.
Josefina answered calmly, "I just need to borrow something." And with that, she plunged the needle in, and Dominic went limp.
Josefina worked quickly, extracting a sample and isolating what she needed with precision.
"Keep Dominic tied up, no food or water.
Josefina instructed. "He'll survive a day without eating trust me.
Satch him around the clocet
Darren nodded in agreement. "We'll follow your lead. If you're right, things are about to get a lot more complicated til report back once I return."
