Chapter 1135
Hattie cut him off, her voice dripping with irritation, "If you know taking what's not yours is bad manners, then why are you so eager to play the fool?"
Cassandra blinked, caught off guard. What was up with this aunt? How did she switch gears so quickly?
Hattie pressed on, "You said your grandma chose to leave her assets to our Josie of her own accord. We didn't force her. As her biological granddaughter, you didn't get her blessing. Isn't that a bit embarrassing? And yet, here you are, shamelessly airing it out!"
Cassandra stammered, "I..."
"What do you mean, 'I'? Are you trying to say you're embarrassed too?" Hattie was relentless. "It's one thing to be embarrassed, but to do it right in front of me? If your grandma knew, she'd probably haunt your dreams!"
Cassandra shivered, imagining her grandma's stern face, sending a chill down her spine.
"Josie is my daughter, and I know her character inside out. You try to bully her, and I'll make sure you get a taste of your own medicine!" Hattie snapped fiercely.
Cassandra's head was spinning. How did things get out of hand so fast? Wasn't Hattie just on her side?
Nope, she realized. Hattie had never agreed with her!
Frustration bubbled up inside Cassandra; she had planned to win Hattie over, but instead, she ended up embarrassing herself.
Feeling slighted, Cassandra shot back, "I'm not wrong! That's my grandma! She's an outsider taking over our family's assets. It's not right!"
Hattie retorted, "Then why don't you go ahead and sue my daughter? The door's right there. Don't let it hit you on the way out!"
Hattie was fiercely protective of Josie, remembering all the struggles her daughter had faced, it broke her heart.
Cassandra had walked right into it, and she had it coming!
No one was going to badmouth her daughter on her watch!
Just then, Josefina walked over.
"Josie, you're just in time. This person here was talking trash about you! But don't worry, I didn't believe a word of it. You're my daughter, know you weft Unlike sorte people who have no manners and a foul mouth."
Cassandra was left speechless.
Josefina chuckled, "Mom, you've got a knack for seeing through people."
Cassandra was fuming, her anger puffing her up like a blowfish.
Then, Sandi appeared.
"Vivi, what are you guys talking about?" Sandi noticed Cassandra's sour expression. Did Hattie and Josefina gang up on her?
Cassandra turned to Sandi with a hurt look, "Ning Ning, I... I don't think I fit in here. I should probably leave."
Cassandra's words were vague, playing the victim card.
Hattie rolled her eyes. This woman could really put on a show!
Before Sandi could dig any further, Hattie jumped in, "Ning Ning, you're too kind-hearted. Sometimes, when making friends, you need to be a bit more cautious."
Sandi glanced between Cassandra and Josefina, trying to figure out what went down. Even she could tell Cassandra had probably offended Josefina or Hattie.
Cassandra wanted to explain but didn't know where to start, making the situation awkward.
Finally, Cole spoke up, "There's a stable nearby, how about we all go check it out?" Cassandra quickly grabbed Sandi's arm, "Ning Ning, I can ride. Let's go horseback riding."
Eager to avoid any awkward questions, Cassandra dragged Sandi along.
Josefina turned to her mom, "Mom, I didn't take over the Stark family's assets had no clue grandma planned to leave them to ment wasn't until after she passed and the wilt was read that I found out."
