Chapter 1150

Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess · Dana E.

Josefina lifted her head and caught Mandy's concerned gaze, quickly regaining her composure.

"Mandy, didn't you have an experiment lined up with Percy today?" she asked.

"Ugh, don't even mention it," Mandy replied with an eye roll. "Percy called out of the blue and said he's tied up with something else, so I'm off the hook from the lab for the next couple of days."

Something else? Josefina pondered, trying to figure out what could be so pressing for Percy. It must be something major if he's pulling away from their work.

"Mandy, I've got some stuff to handle. Can you stay here at the medical society? I'll send over today's work schedule. Sorry to dump it on you," Josefina said.

"Don't sweat it, Josie. Go on and handle your business. I've got this covered," Mandy reassured her.

"Thanks," Josefina replied, heading out.

Josefina spent the entire afternoon trying to track down Logan but came up empty- handed. She met up with Alfie, who handed her a letter—well, more like a single sheet of paper. Despite the messy scribbles, the handwriting was unmistakably familiar.

Logan had written a single line: "Master, I've left. Don't search for me, and don't worry-I'm alright."

That simple line ripped open a floodgate of memories for Josefina.

"If I hadn't been so stubborn back then, Logan wouldn't have ended up like this..." she said, her face pale with regret.

"Josie," Alfie gently admonished, "you've got to stop blaming yourself. None of this is your fault. Logan's health was shaky from the start. Without you, he wouldn't have come this far."

"But my experiment failed," Josefina whispered, her voice barely audible.

"You're just beating yourself up over nothing. It was never your fault, not even close. Josie, you've done more than anyone could have," Alfie insisted, unable to see his apprentice so wrapped up in self-doubt.

"I've already sent your fellow students out to search for him. Hopefully, we'll locate Logan soon."

"Thank you, Master."

"Logan's like half a student of mine too. No need to thank me. Besides, you're expecting a baby. You need to take care of yourself and not stress too much. It's not good for you or the little one."

"I promise I take care of myself. You must be exhausted from the journey Oliver's villa is all set up and it's close to my mom's place Let's have dinner together tonight."

Fearing Alfie might refuse, Josefina quickly excused herself,

With that, Josefina made a quick exit.

Alfie chuckled softly, his eyes brimming with affection.

Later, Josefina caught up with Oliver. While there was no news on Logan, there was some other good news.

"Are you really sure?" Josefina's eyes sparkled with excitement, as bright as fireworks.

Oliver playfully tweaked her nose. "Well, it's not a hundred percent confirmed, but better safe than sorry, right?"

Josefina laughed with delight. "The long arm of the law never misses! Oliver, your team is seriously on point."

Oliver added, "Harry and Asher are still on the case. Once we nail down where Makiko was heading that night, we might have a breakthrough."

Oliver's team had been investigating the area where Makiko had vanished that evening. They had narrowed it down to three warehouses.

Josefina urged, "Come on, let's get moving. I can't wait to see how this unfolds."

Oliver chuckled indulgently and started the car, ready to whisk Josefina off to the scene to witness the unfolding drama.
