Chapter 1232
Anyone walking by might've thought Cash was picking a fight, but Alfie and Josefina knew exactly what he meant.
No matter how you looked at it, everything circled back to Logan and his not-so- average health.
"Master, if Logan doesn't want to go back with you, just let him stay in Westwood," Josefina said.
Cash chimed in, "Little sis, why not let Logan stay with me? I've got the time, and I can keep an eye on him."
Alfie shook his head. "Logan's made up his mind. Doesn't matter what you say, he's not going anywhere with you. So, let's just respect his choice."
He turned to Josefina, “Josie, your senior brother and I will stick around Westwood for a bit. If anything comes up with Logan, just say the word-we'll be here."
Josefina could tell her master and Alfie were only worried about her, afraid she'd get buried under all these problems alone.
"Thank you, Master. Thank you, Alfie."
Cash smiled. "No need for thanks, Josie. About what you asked me to look into- I've got the answer. Cole and Brandon are really father and son."
The DNA results were in. That was that.
“Guess I was just overthinking it," Josefina muttered, a little lost in her own thoughts.
...
When Josefina got back to school, she found a crowd blocking the Medical Society's door.
Mandy was at the front with a megaphone, her voice echoing down the hallway. "Alright, everyone, you can head out now! No need to stand around here. We used to need more people, but not anymore. We're not recruiting, so please, move along!"
One of the Medical Society members didn't bother hiding her feelings. "You all used
to look down on us. Now you want to join? That's rich."
"Stop gawking. Nothing here's for you."
"Regret joining Cassandra's group now, huh?"
"Sorry, there's no magic pill for regret. Doesn't matter how sorry you are." "Seriously, go home. We don't need doormen."
Josefina listened for a bit and soon got the gist of it. The students who'd ditched the Medical Society for the Medical Association now wanted back in She didn't need extra hands right now, but she wasn't the type to hold a grudge. As long as everyone kept to themselves, that was enough.
As the crowd started to break up, a few of them spotted Josefina and froze.
"Josefina's back."
"Should I try talking to her?"
"Even if you get down on your knees, she's not letting you back in."
"Mandy's right. We used to turn up our noses at the old Medical Society, and now we're not even good enough for the new one."
No one called out to her. Embarrassed, faces bright red, they hurried off.
Josefina walked into the office, where Mandy and Damita greeted her with huge grins.
"President, you're back!" Mandy said, barely holding back a laugh.
Josefina just shook her head. "Guys, drop the President' stuff. Just catt me Josie, or Josefina, whatever you like. It's just the three of us no need to be so formal
"Alright, Josie it is!" Mandy said, practically bouncing with happiness, like she'd just hit the jackpot.
Josefina teased, “Mandy, you're grinning like you're up to something."
Mandy flopped down into a chair. "Josie, you have no idea how happy I am today. All those people who
didn't believe in you finally got what they deserved."
Honestly, how could she not be happy? The people who only cared about clout finally realized who had the real skills.
With Josie in charge, Mandy was sure she'd get to share in the good times, too.
After all, sticking with Josie always meant there'd be plenty to go around.
