Chapter 1235
Selah was sure she was about to crash straight into someone, but before she could even react, a strong hand reached out, grabbed her by the waist, and pulled her clean off the runaway scooter.
The scooter smashed into a stone pillar and was instantly wrecked.
Selah's heart was racing-she couldn't stop thinking about what might've happened if she'd actually crashed. Would she have ended up in a coma or worse?
"Thank you," she gasped, patting her chest as goosebumps ran up her arms.
She looked up and met Dorian's cold, unreadable face. For a second, she just stared, completely blank.
Dorian didn't say a word. He just turned and walked away, long strides carrying him off without even looking back.
Selah blinked after him. “Is he mute or something? Not even a single word. Maybe he literally can't talk?"
She glanced at the trashed scooter, pulled out her phone, and started dialing.
...
When Oliver walked in, he caught Josefina looking at him with bright, curious eyes —she was practically buzzing with questions.
"Dorian tracked me down earlier," Oliver said, sliding into the seat across from her. "He told me not to take you out for hotpot again. Said it's not healthy, and he's worried I'm not taking good enough care of you."
Josefina tried not to laugh, though she was half amused and half exasperated. She knew Dorian was just being protective. It's not like eating hotpot once in a while would hurt.
"He's just looking out for me. I get it. What about you, Oliver?" She tossed the question his way, eyebrow raised.
Oliver grinned and plopped a roll of lamb into the bubbling broth. “If you're happy, I'm happy. There's lamb, there's beef-plenty of good stuff in here. It's fine."
Josefina couldn't help but giggle. Oliver fished out the cooked lamb and dropped it into her bowl.
"Go on-dig in."
Josefina picked up the lamb with her chopsticks, dipped it in sauce, and popped it in her mouth, clearly enjoying every bite.
Seeing her that happy made Oliver smile, too.
...
Arms full of groceries and bags of household stuff, Josefina and Oliver headed over to Percy's apartment.
Percy wasn't home-he was at the lab.
Josefina texted Percy to let him know she'd arrived, then punched in the door code and stepped inside.
Logan's living area was basically a safe room-he wasn't allowed to leave.
Josefina opened the heavy door.
eye
Logan was sitting on the floor and turned when he heard her The second up. He looked like a big puppy who'd just been picked up from the shelter.
he saw Josefina, his eyes lit
"Master," Logan said, scrambling to his feet.
"Come on out, Logan. I brought you food, and I'll check your pulse while we're at it
—just want to see how you're doing."
Logan obediently followed her out.
Oliver watched Logan's every move. When Logan was calm, he was sweer as a five-year-old no threat at all Still, Oliver kept his guard up. If Logan ever lost control, it could get dangerous fast.
Logan sat down as Josefina unpacked the takeout.
"Master, let me do it. You need to rest now that you're having a baby."
Josefina froze. Oliver's eyes widened-they both stared at Logan, totally stunned.
How did he know?
Who told him?
A million questions flooded their minds. Josefina finally sat down next to him.
"Logan, how did you know I was pregnant?"
Logan just shrugged. "I could tell.
Your breathing and heartbeat are et

too
s how I figured it out"ontent
Josefina and Oliver looked at each other, completely speechless.
Did Logan somehow develop X-ray vision?
Josefina had a wild thought—was Logan's mind actually evolving?
The same Logan who'd once been written off as a failed experiment was he finally changing?
Josefina decided to tell Alfie what she'd noticed, hoping her mentor could look into it.
Logan noticed them staring and shrank back a little, looking worried. "Did I say something wrong, Master?"
Josefina smiled. "Not at all. Come on, let's eat."
