Chapter 1300
Josefina's eyes lit up with understanding.
"Well done, Logan. You're the best.”
She couldn't believe Logan had remembered—and for so long, too.
"Why didn't he tell me sooner? Still, even if he had, we probably wouldn't have figured out where the yard was hidden anyway." Josefina picked up a gold bar and weighed it in her hand.
Heavy. Solid. Pretty impressive.
She couldn't help but laugh. Honestly, who could resist a pile of shiny treasure like this?
Oliver caught the look on her face and grinned, reaching over to give her cheek a playful pinch.
"You little money-lover."
Josefina shot him a look. "What, Oliver, you don't like money?"
He smiled. “Nope. I don't care about money. I only care about you."
She raised an eyebrow, teasing, “Sure, you only like me because I'm loaded, right?”
Oliver just looked at her with all the affection in the world, letting out a helpless laugh.
"Darren's taking care of the aftermath. We found so much tonight, I doubt those people will dare make any sudden moves-they're probably terrified of getting caught right now. You should really take it easy for a while. Rest up."
Josefina shrugged. "We'll see. With so many people watching, I've basically been resting this whole time. Did that guy Mark spill anything useful?"
Oliver nodded. "Turns out he wanted to kill me. He gathered a few guys tonight- they were planning to ambush me. But now their plan's toast."
All thanks to Josefina.
She'd saved him, no question.
"Josie, all these boxes are yours. Do whatever you want-keep them, give them away, it's up to you."
Josefina beamed. "Thank you, sir."
She was honestly thrilled.
After Asher gave Mark and his crew a little motivation with his notorious leather whip, they spilled everything they knew.
Nobody could handle that kind of pain for long.
The whip had been soaking in chili oil; one lash and it felt like fire tearing your skin apart.
Who could stand that?
Mark, practically sobbing, pleaded, "I've told you everything, I swear. That's all I know."
Asher raised an eyebrow. "You're pretty bold, huh?”
Mark shook his head frantically. "No,
man, I'm not! I swear, I don't have et
any guts left. I'll never have guts agam."
He wouldn't take money for this again he was scared out of his mind.
Asher snapped the whip in his hand, making the others cower.
Once it was clear they'd gotten all they could, Asher stepped outside and called Oliver to give him the update.
"Mr. Oliver, we got it. Their contact's name is Victoria. She always wears a mask."
Oliver sounded curious. "Yeah?"
Asher continued, "But Mark said he saw the left side of Victoria's
once without the mask Set
big, dark ingle on her cheek
“Get a sketch artist to draw her," Oliver said. "It'll help us find her faster."
"Already on it. The rest of them didn't have anything useful to say. Total waste of space."
Oliver hung up.
Priority one: find Victoria.
...
While Oliver was looking for Victoria, someone else found her first.
Victoria was lying on an operating table at a private clinic, about to have her mole removed.
She didn't lose the mole, but she almost lost her life.
Victoria was beyond frustrated—and honestly, just tired.
"Who are you people?" she demanded, her guard up.
Asher gave her a sideways look. "No wonder you lead a bunch of lasers you're pretty useless yourself. Why don't you guess who we are?"
Victoria was speechless.
And just like that, she was taken away.
