Chapter 368
"Shake 'em off." Josefina said.
"Right away, Ms. Josefina."
With a surge of acceleration, it was all about chasing the adrenaline rush. In no time, the driver, relying on his familiarity with the road conditions, successfully shook off the car that was following them.
They drove for quite a while until they finally reached the harbor. The driver stepped out, scanned the surroundings, and opened the car door. "Ms. Josefina, please, step out."
Josefina alighted, still wearing her hat, brim pulled down low. They boarded a ferry, and it set sail across the open sea.
Josefina sat on the deck, a wave of nostalgia washing over her. Bert approached, presenting an opened coconut. "Rosa, have some coconut water. It'll be a bit before we dock at Rose Bay Island."
"Thanks, Bert." Josefina took it with both hands, sipping it with a sigh of pure bliss.
Rose Bay Island was the home of Josefina's mentor, the retired pirate, Hayden.
Hayden was saved by Josefina, and had wanted her to be his goddaughter, but she simply called him her mentor.
Hayden called her Rosaline, after Rose Bay Island. To the outside world, Rosaline was known as Hayden's daughter, and he had declared that Rose Bay Island would one day be hers.
His wealth and estate were all bequeathed to Rosaline. Everyone was certain. Hayden doted on this daughter of his.
Rosaline was another name for Josefina.
Oliver stood at the harbor, watching the ship grow smaller on the horizon. Content originally comes from find~novel~net
Asher approached, whispering, "Mr. Oliver, we've checked. That vessel's headed for Rose Bay Island."
Oliver had been tracking the vehicle
Josefina was riding in. They
managed to shake off the first one but not the second Oliver also changed cars in between. To his surprise, the chase had ended with them boarding a ship. s
"Mr. Oliver, we must set sail for Demon's Isle soon. We can't afford to delay any longer."
Oliver strode briskly forward and boarded another ship. On deck, he donned his sunglasses, the sunlight glinting off his frame, the sea breeze tousling his hair, accentuating his rugged profile.
Two ships sailed, one east, one west.
Upon Josefina's arrival at Rose Bay Island, the place was aglitter with crystals. A castle stood on the island, one tower painted pink, surrounded by a variety of flowers and a swing set.
Hayden and the staff awaited her at the entrance, their excitement palpable. "Rosa, you're finally back."
"Hi," Josefina said, grinning as she approached Hayden.
The staff greeted in unison, "Welcome home, Miss."
Josefina chatted with Hayden as they walked. They sat in the garden gazebo, where Josefina broached another reason for her visit. "Have you heard from the friend I asked you about?"
"No, I plan to personally visit
Demon's Isle today to assess the
situation How can your friend disappear after going to Demon's Isle for the auction? Ultimately, it's the incompetence of the island owner of Demon's Isle that led to such an incident." s
"I'm coming too. Livia's like family to me. I won't rest until I see it for myself."
Hayden chuckled, "I heard Demon's Isle's owner is back today, hosting some matchmaking fête. The owner's a bachelor, and there's no shortage of ladies hoping to tie the knot with him. Your return is timely. Let's go stir things up." s
A matchmaking fête?
Who was this owner, and why the need for matchmaking? Josefina was curious indeed.
