Chapter 393
Lena couldn't shake the feeling that Dorian was messing with her on purpose.
Josefina was good at so many things, but when it came to Lena, all she got was a vague “everyone has their strengths." Like, seriously? As if Lena was good for nothing.
Holding back her frustration with a practiced smile, Lena said, "Dorian, I'm not here to intrude. Why don't you try this herbal tea I made and give me your thoughts?"
"Sure," Dorian replied, though he didn't sound particularly enthusiastic.
Once Lena left, Dorian glanced at the fruit-infused tea with little interest. What he really needed was a strong cup of coffee.
At the crack of dawn, the Harrison family gathered around the breakfast table, and Lena was running herself ragged.
She served oatmeal to Grandpa Robert, dished out bird's nest soup for Hattie, and poured Garrett a tall glass of milk. When she got to Dorian, she made sure to brew him a strong coffee, taking care of everyone's needs. For original chapters go to find⦿novel.net
Annika watched Lena whirl around like a top, knowing exactly what she was up to. Lena was just taking advantage of Josefina's absence to win the Harrison family's favor.
Annika made sure to report Lena's every move to Josefina, keeping her informed of all the goings-on.
After finishing her report, Annika placed her homemade shrimp cakes on the table, which everyone loved.
Lena glanced at them and cheerfully said, "Mom, I've got some seafood on the way. It should be here this afternoon. Make sure to come home early today because I'm planning to cook a seafood feast for everyone."
Hattie responded, “Lena, leave the cooking to the kitchen staff. It's too much work for you."
"It's no trouble at all, Mom. I love cooking when it makes you all happy." Grandpa Robert chimed in, "Annika, these shrimp cakes are delicious." “Thanks, Grandpa. Ms. Josefina told me about everyone's preferences, so I try to mix things up. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, after all." Hattie put down her utensils, "I miss Josie. I wonder when she'll be back." Annika replied, "I just messaged Ms. Josefina to ask when she'll return and what she'd like for dinner. She said she should be home by four or five this afternoon."
Dorian, who had been engrossed in the financial section, looked up and checked his phone.
He sent a message to his secretary: "Make sure all meetings are wrapped up by three."
He planned to be home by four to welcome his sister.
Rising from his seat, Dorian announced, "I'm off to work."
Starting early meant finishing early and getting home sooner.
Garrett hurried to follow Dorian. "Wait up, big bro! I'm coming with you."
Hattie beamed, "Annika, Josie loves steamed buns. Don't forget to prep the dough. I'll roll out some noodles later Dumplings for the ride, hoodles to abide noodles will be perfect for Josie's return." s
Grandpa Robert added, "Tonight, let me handle the noodles. Josie I

"Sure thing, Dad. Your noodles are legendary, and Josie can't get enough."
With everyone busy with their tasks, Lena's irritation grew.
Noticing Lena's silence after
finishing her bird's nest soup, Hattie asked, "Lena, why aren't you eating? Didn't you say you wanted a sandwich?" s
Lena smiled and took a bite of her sandwich, joining in the meal.

When Josefina arrived at the airport, Oliver whisked her away for a bite to eat.
"Let's grab some food before heading home. You don't want to get there on an empty stomach, do you?"
Josefina patted her belly, "I had plenty on the flight."
"Airplane food doesn't count. Come on, it won't delay us much."
Oliver led Josefina to a nearby restaurant for a proper meal.
