Chapter 401
Oliver strode through the bar's corridor, his footsteps echoing with an assertive rhythm. Westwood's most popular hangout spot was so vast that it took him a good minute to reach the elevator bank. As the elevator doors slid open, a girl with a pixie cut, head down, and a brisk walk emerged, making a beeline away from him.
Oliver paused, letting the doors close without entering. Instead, he quickened his pace and caught up with the girl. She wore a tight-fitting tee that hugged her curves, leaving little to the imagination. Her denim shorts accentuated long, slender legs that seemed to glow under the dim lights of the corridor.
Approaching her, Oliver couldn't resist and playfully swatted her behind. The girl spun around with a slap aimed for his face, but Oliver's reflexes were sharp, and he caught her wrist in time.
"Josie."
Josefina?
Only then did Josefina realize the man in front of her was none other than Oliver. "Josie, dressed to kill – were you looking for me?" Oliver mused.
Josefina hadn't recognized him at first, confirming Oliver's guess that she hadn't come for him. Hooking her arm in his, she played along. "I'm here for Lena, and look, I bumped into you instead."
Oliver smoothly cornered her against the wall, his arms cradling her with no escape. He bent down, his intense gaze locked on the fiery girl trapped in his embrace. "Josie, you've been naughty, not recognizing me. I'm hurt."
Josefina felt a twinge of guilt; despite being face-to-face, she hadn't recognized Oliver.
"I was in a hurry, Oliver, it wasn't on purpose."
"That sounds like an excuse, Josie."
"I'm honestly here for Lena. I need to find out who she's conspiring with, who's after the Harrison family's wealth."
"Josie, stop dodging the issue. You didn't recognize me," Oliver insisted, the matter clearly important to him.
Feeling cornered, Josefina stood on her tiptoes and pressed her lips to his. A smile bloomed on Oliver's face as he deepened their kiss.
During this tender moment, Shay
arrived on the scene. Frozen in
place she couldn
believe her eye
Was this the same Oliver she knew, the epitome of restraint,
passionately kissing someone else? s
Unable to contain herself, Shay called out, "Oliver!"
At the sound of her voice, Josefina jumped back, and Oliver, reluctantly breaking the kiss, unbuttoned his suit jacket to smele Josefina's flustered face. He knew his Josie was shy. s
Turning his head with cold indifference, Oliver addressed Shay, "Looks like my words went in one ear and out the other. You really don't have the right to address me so casually."
"But I'm your sister, Oliver. Even if you deny it, we're still family."
"You seem to have forgotten that I've long since declared my independence. My family records only include my mother and me!"
Shay inhaled deeply, the sting of rejection clear as Oliver had severed ties with the family, isolating himself and his mother from the rest.
She glanced at the woman in Oliver's arms, noticing the smooth, fair legs. Even though she couldn't see her face, Shay was certain, it was Josefina. Who else could makeTM Oliver lose his composure like this? s
With a self-deprecating chuckle, Shay asked, "Do you really despise us that much?"
