Chapter 412

Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess · Dana E.

Josefina chuckled, "Mr. Remus, I apologize if it looks like I've ordered a whole feast. Should we maybe cut back on a few dishes?"

"Oh, no need to worry about that, Ms. Josefina," Remus replied with a smile. "Consider it my treat. Enjoy your meal. I need to get back to work."

With that, Remus bolted out of the restaurant faster than a jackrabbit, clearly afraid of being taken for a ride if he stuck around any longer.

Holly watched him make his hasty exit, clicking her tongue in amusement.

"Just over five grand and he's already running scared," she mused. "I thought he had more backbone."

Holly quickly turned her attention to Josefina, "Ms. Josefina, please sit down. Let me fill you in on everything."

Josefina settled into her chair with a smile, and soon a fresh salad was served to whet her appetite.

Holly recounted the incident with Remus, "He's really not the brightest. What good does it do to win me over? I'm just an ordinary employee. To show my loyalty to you, Ms. Josefina, I declined his offer immediately and even recorded the conversation."

Josefina was surprised by Holly's dramatic change - from being oppositional at first to now being protective and loyal.

"Holly, his attempt to win you over is just the beginning. He's likely to try and divide us one by one."

"Well, then he's even dumber than I thought! None of the staff will fall for his tricks! Even if he's been sent by headquarters, so what? Against absolute competence, he doesn't stand a chance."

Holly added, "He's not one of the Harrisons, after all. He's got an inflated sense of self-worth."

Josefina simply smiled and said nothing, her hunger taking over as she tucked into her steak and pasta.

Back at the office, Remus was seething with frustration but refrained from throwing a tantrum. He needed to maintain the facade of a level-headed leader.

Just as he was regaining his composure, his phone rang - it was his brother-in- law.

"Bro-in-law, why can't our collaboration continue? You're working there now, can't you help me out? My new company needs those orders."

Remus replied, vexed, "A-Fei, I may have joined the company, but there's still a president who doesn't want to work with your firm. What can I do?"

"Come on, you're a manager. Can't you figure something out?"

"I've tried. even approached Ms. Josefina about it, but she still

Remus shifted all the blame onto Josefina, without acknowledging his own faults.

"Who exactly is this Ms. Josefina? She's just a woman, right?"

"She may be a woman, but she's also the company president. A-Fei, I can't help you."

"You're useless! I can't believe my sister married a man like you!" A-Fei hung up in a fit of rage.

Remus couldn't hold back any longer and smashed the teacup on his desk.

As Josefina arrived at the office, she heard the commotion. Kale gestured for her

to come over, and they both entered her office. Latest content published on find{n}ovel.net

"Ms. Josefina, it seems Remus lost

his cool over the failed collaboration with his brother-in-law's company eavesdropped a bit and that good-for-nothing is actually pinning the blame on you," Kale reported. s

Josefina scoffed, "Classic Remus, always shirking responsibility."

"We need to get rid of Remus fast," Kale insisted. "We're already partnering with other companies, and we need to make sure he wont be able to return to the main office either. We have to eliminate the problem for good." s

Seeing Josefina's brimming confidence, Kale sighed with relief.
