Chapter 419
Dorian didn't beat around the bush. "Josie, why are you so against letting people know who you really are?"
Josefina gave a sweet smile. "Dorian, you know I juggle a lot of different roles. If I come out as the true heiress of the Harrison family, it'll attract a ton of unwanted attention. People will start digging into my other identities. It's just too much hassle and would disrupt my life."
Dorian's eyes lit up with understanding. His sister had many alter egos; keeping them hidden was the smart move.
"Josie, you've thought this through. If you don't want to reveal it, we'll keep it our little secret. Heiress or not, you're still my sister."
Josefina's smile was so genuine, it shone through the phone. She could feel Dorian's affection.
"Thanks for understanding, Dorian. I'll be at the banquet tonight. And please, don't tell your friends I'm your sister, okay?"
Dorian chuckled. "You got it, sis. Your wish is my command. If you want to keep mum, then mum it is."
"Thank you, Dorian. See you tonight."
After hanging up, Josefina got a call from the factory.
"Ms. Josefina, you need to come over here pronto. Remus claims he's here for an inspection, but he's actually causing chaos!"
"I'll call him and sort it out," Josefina assured before hanging up. She found Remus's number and dialed.
Remus answered lazily, "Ms. Josefina, I'm in the middle of an inspection. Can't just leave, can I?"
"Remus, get back to the office now, or you're fired!"
"Josefina, what gives you the right to fire me? I'm here to assist, sent by the head office. Who do you think you are? You think you're some Harrison family princess who can fire people at will?"
Josefina laughed coldly, "On my turf, you play by my rules. Don't believe me? Try me and see if I can't fire you!"
After Josefina hung up, Remus drove back in a fit of rage.
Storming into the office, he started ranting, "Josefina, come out here! Say it again in front of everyone and let them decide!"
Kale stepped forward, his steely gaze pinning Remus. "Mr. Remus, what's with the racket?"
Alex chimed in, "Mr. Remus, you're so loud you could give someone a heart attack. Can you afford that?"
Remus shouted back, "Alex, mind your own business! I know you're in cahoots with Josefina! But so what? She can't fire me!"
Josefina emerged, facing Remus calmly. "Remus, let's keep it professional."
"Josefina, on what grounds are you firing me?"
"On the grounds of your ill intentions," she said coolly. "And there's no need to shout, I'll present the evidence right here. Since everyone's gathered, let's all listen."
She played a recording from her phone. It was Remus plotting with someone on how to take her down and seize the CEO position for himself. The recording also revealed him sabotaging production at the factory and damaging materials.
Josefina's voice was icy. "You'll be footing the bill for this loss." "Why should I?"
"Because you damaged factory property. Who else should compensate for it if not you? We've got surveillance footage as evidence. If you disagree, you're welcome to sue the company, or me."
Remus was fuming, gasping for air, his eyes bloodshot as he glared at Josefina.
If he were a balloon, he would have popped right then and there.
"Josefina, shut your mouth!"
Kale, Alex, Holly, and Angel, in unison: "No, you shut up!"
