Chapter 426

Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess · Dana E.

"Josie."

With a tender gesture, Oliver wrapped his arms around Josefina from behind, resting his chin gently on her head.

"Josie, why didn't you wait for me?"

Josefina scrunched her nose as the strong scent of alcohol wafted over. "Why have you been drinking like a fish?"

"It's not as bad as it seems; my clothes just soaked up the smell. If it bothers you, I'll just toss them."

As he spoke, Oliver began peeling off his jacket.

Just as he was about to chuck it into the trash bin, Josefina stepped in.

"Oliver, just because you have money doesn't mean you should waste it. It's a perfectly good jacket. Take it home and wash it; it'll be fine."

Oliver chuckled, holding Josefina tighter as if he hadn't seen her in ages, unwilling to let go.

"Oliver, people are watching," Josefina nudged, still holding his discarded blazer.

Oliver's handsome features softened with an indulgent smile, his gaze upon Josefina both mischievous and wild.

"Josie, let me take you home. Too much booze can't be good for your stomach."

She steadied Oliver as they made their way toward the exit.

Josefina had called for a driver in advance. The car was waiting right at the doorstep, ready for them.

As they emerged, the driver came over to assist Oliver.

That's when Josefina noticed Finley exiting the venue, conspicuously without Shay by his side.

A woman trailed behind him, head bowed, looking every bit the wronged wife under Finley's thunderous expression.

Josefina had the nagging feeling she'd seen this girl before.

Handing Oliver off to the driver, she dashed toward Finley's direction.

"Finley, wait up!"

But as Josefina called out, Finley's car roared away, speeding off into the night.

Josefina huffed in frustration. "Finley must think he's a rocket!"

Annoyed, she turned back, where Oliver and the driver still waited.

The driver flinched at Oliver's sharp tone. "Who said you could hold me? Just drive the car!"

Realizing he'd overstepped, the driver mumbled an apology. "Mr. Oliver, I'm sorry. I'll get you back to Ms. Josefina right away. Please bear with me for a moment."

As Josefina approached, the driver practically sprinted to the driver's seat.

"Ms. Josefina, please take Mr. Oliver. I need to drive now."

Josefina supported Oliver into the car while the driver mentally mapped out their destination, driving unusually slow.

"Why are we crawling? There's no traffic, step on it," Josefina urged.

"Ms. Josefina, I don't dare speed. What if Mr. Oliver gets sick? Just give me a moment; I'm doing my best here."

With a half-laugh, Josefina replied, "Better fast than sorry. If anything happens, I'll take the blame."

With Josefina's blessing, the driver picked up the pace, soon arriving at Oliver's residence.

Clutching his stomach, the driver pleaded, "Ms. Josefina, I've got a stomachache. Could you please help Mr. Oliver up? I appreciate it."

The driver made a beeline away, warning the security and the butler, "Nobody disturb Mr. Oliver and Ms. Josefina. And don't you try to help him; you won't manage!"
