Chapter 436

Fox couldn't hold back his excitement, barely able to wait to share the news about his company's latest successful partnership. "Unlike you, Mr. Antonio, running around begging for collaborations and getting nowhere."

Billy's face turned red with anger as he glared at Fox. "Shut your mouth!"

Fox's laughter boomed through the air. Billy's irritation was his amusement.

Today was a day to celebrate, a day to pop open a bottle and toast to victory. Fox laughed heartily, knowing the tables had turned after years of being overshadowed by Billy.

"I used to think your company's success was all thanks to you, Billy. Now I see it clearly—it was all because of your foster daughter, Josefina! You and your wife, you're both pieces of work, scaring away Lady Luck herself! That's the funniest thing I've heard all year."

Fox continued his taunts, "Billy, you've only got yourself to blame for this mess. You and Lauren, you're a pair of real pieces of work! Karma's got your number!"

Billy felt like he was about to pass out from sheer rage, Fox's words cutting deep. Clutching his chest, he remembered Josefina. She had given him a bottle of pills to take whenever he felt unwell, but since she left, he had run out.

Desperate for relief he couldn't get, Billy pointed at Fox with fury. "Shut up!"

Seeing Billy's face pale, Fox dialed down the intensity, saying coolly, "I don't have time to waste on you, I've got things to do. Billy, you seem to have a lot of free time now. I bet you'll have even more soon."

With that, Fox walked away, leaving Billy sitting on the curb, gasping for air. Looking up at the bright sky, Billy felt a pang of sadness at his current situation.

Josefina arrived at the office, swamped with tasks. By noon, she finally had a chance to grab a bite to eat. As she was eating, her phone buzzed with a message.

"Lena's been crying."

Josefina's curiosity was piqued; she needed to get the scoop. "What's up?"

"Lena's not exactly a model of efficiency. The secretarial team is swamped, and she didn't finish the small task assigned to her. Nobody knows her background, so the head of the department gave her a good talking-to. Lena felt so wronged she went looking for Dorian, but he wasn't around."

Josefina smirked, "I always thought Lena was the type to not sweat the small stuff. Who knew she'd cry over something so minor?"

"Lena wanted to impress, but it backfired."

Josefina chuckled, finding her meal even more enjoyable with a side of gossip. "Lena's got her share of troubles," she said with a knowing smile.

After lunch, Josefina briefed Alex on a few things and reminded Kale of some details before leaving the office.

Josefina drove to Anya's headquarters, wearing a hat and slipping through a special entrance that led her straight to Orla's office. Orla was waiting at the elevator doors, her face lighting up when she saw Josefina.

"Ms. Josefina, you're here."

With a graceful smile, Josefina followed Orla inside. Orla explained, "It's lunchtime; everyone's out, so we've got the place to ourselves."

"Have you eaten yet?" Josefina asked.

"I can wait. It's no problem," Orla replied.

Josefina held up a bag filled with delicious treats. "I brought you something. I'll check the accounts while you eat."

Orla's eyes sparkled with gratitude. Ms. Josefina was always so kind to her!
