Garrett chuckled, "We've tightened security. Everything's been changed, even locked up the back door to keep the riff-raff out."

Josefina grinned, thinking, 'Dad's got it all covered.'

After a moment's thought, Josefina added, "There's one more person we need to reassign."

A confident smile spread across Josefina's face, making Hattie and Garrett relax a

bit.

Josefina went to check on Grandma, giving her a thorough once-over.

Emily looked a bit sheepish, "It's all my fault. If only I could remember what happened that night."

"Grandma, you just woke up; it's totally normal to not remember right away. Don't stress-it'll only make it harder to recall."

"Emmy, Josie's right," Grandpa chimed in. "Take it easy on yourself. Waking up is a miracle in itself. Your health comes first."

Comforted by their words, Emily's face softened into a gentle smile.

"Grandma, Grandpa's spot on-you gotta focus on getting better." Josefina placed her items back into the first aid kit, but then an idea struck her.

Whipping out her phone, she shot a quick text to Grandpa. His eyes widened in surprise as he read it, then he sidled over to Emily to share the news.

Nods of agreement followed the conversation.

Josefina, carrying the first aid kit, burst out, "This is fantastic! Grandma, you remember now? You were pushed?!"

Emily played along perfectly, "Yes, I was pushed down the stairs! Robert, call the police, someone tried to do me in!"

Grandpa Robert roared in outrage, "Unbelievable! We've got a snake in our midst; we need to call the cops!"

The trio's act was pitch-perfect, and soon the news was making its way back to the mansion.

Annika brought over a cup of iced tea, overhearing the update.

Stunned, Annika exclaimed, "What kind of madness is this? Who has the gall to harm an old lady?"

Josefina chimed in, "Exactly. Whoever dared to target Grandma is going to get nailed."

"We need to catch this monster fast. The poor woman's been through enough— people can be so cruel," Annika sighed.

In hushed tones, Josefina leaned in, "Annika, slip into the kitchen later and let the news slip—make it look accidental, got it?"

Though confused by Josefina's tactics, Annika nodded, "You can count on me, Ms. Josefina. I'm on it."

Annika was always up for helping Josefina with her plans.

However, the news still reached Lena.

Lena, already frazzled and poring over ledgers, was completely thrown off by the

rumor.

She grabbed her burner phone and dialed her accomplice, frantic, "The damn old lady remembers, and even though they might not trace it back to me, I'm scared."

"Calm down; I'll look into it. Stay away from home for the next couple of days- blame it on work," the man on the line advised.

Lena regained her composure, "Even if Clover does remember it was me, I'll deny everything. Without proof, it's all hearsay!"

Steadying herself, she was determined not to admit to anything.

The man's voice was firm, "Remember, stay calm. We can only win if you keep your cool."

"I know, and I'll do anything for you," Lena replied, her voice filled with resolve.
