Chapter 518

Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess · Dana E.

"Josie, how could you do this to us? We raised you, and now you're treating us like enemies. Does it make you happy to see our family business crash?"

Garrett stepped in front of Josie, his face flushed with anger. "Hold on a second, you need solid proof before you start throwing accusations. How has our Josie done anything to your family? Business is a battlefield, and if you're not looking out for number one, you're done for. So, it's fine for you to play your hand, but Josie can't play hers?"

Hattie chimed in, "Our Josie can do whatever she pleases. If she's committed a crime, why don't you call the cops? Go ahead, make a report!"

Ruby eyed Hattie and Garrett's attire, feeling a mix of envy and resentment. Josie was living the life!

Ruby spat out, "Josie, you've got a heart of stone. We made a mistake, my parents took you in, and this is how you repay our family business?"

Josie was tired of hearing the same old tune. "Ruby, haven't your folks ever told you how your company got started? And those shady deals-don't tell me you have no clue about them?"

Josie continued, "Mom, Dad, let's head inside. There's no use wasting our time on this."

The trio walked towards the restaurant, leaving Lauren with an icy glare trailing them closely.

"Josie, aren't you afraid I'll go to the press and let the whole world know about your ingratitude?"

Josie turned around with a coy smile, "By all means, make it known. I'd love for the world to see how you mistreat children."

Garrett added, "Feel free to get the press involved. My legal team is ready and waiting."

They would have gone public with Josie's story long ago if it weren't for the painful memories it would stir up for her. Josie had told them she didn't want to bring up the past or have them confront Billy's family. But here was Lauren, practically asking for a showdown.

Josie smiled, "I'll be waiting for the online coverage, Lauren. Don't disappoint me."

With that, Josie led her parents into the restaurant, leaving a seething Lauren behind. Lauren rushed forward but was stopped by the manager.

"Lauren, are you sure you want to involve the police?"

Lauren hesitated, then calmly inquired, "Who are they, exactly?"

The manager looked at Lauren with a mix of surprise and amusement. "You don't know them? Those two are the top tycoons! And that beautiful lady in the middle must be their daughter, the tycoon heiress."

The words hit Lauren and Ruby like a ton of bricks. Could Josie really be the daughter of a tycoon? It was too far-fetched to believe!

The turn of events was beyond Lauren's comprehension. "Mom, is this for real? How could Josie possibly be a tycoon heiress?"

Lauren shook her head in disbelief. "Not just you, I can't believe it either! When her family came to pick her up, they were on a rickety tricycle, how could they be so wealthy?"

"Yeah, that old guy on the beat-up tricycle, what kind of rich family rides in something like that?"

The image of Josie being fetched came flooding back, and neither could believe it was true. They were completely baffled.

After a moment, Lauren snapped back to reality. "No way, this can't be true. I'm going to wait here and get to the bottom of this!"

Ruby clenched her jaw, "Mom, if Josie really is a tycoon's daughter, then we should just ask her for money!"
