Chapter 525
Emily handed Josefina another jewelry set, but Josefina shook her head and said, "Grandma, you've already given me so much. You should keep this for yourself."
Emily's eyes sparkled with a smile. "Oh, don't be so formal with me, dear. It's just a little something from me to you. Go on, take it."
Grandpa Robert added, "Josie, just take it, sweetheart."
Garrett chimed in, "It's a gift from your grandma, Josie. You should accept it."
With everyone encouraging her, Josefina finally gave in. "Alright, thank you, Grandma."
Emily's face lit up with joy. "Let's have dinner here tonight, a nice family meal. Carter told me he'll make it back in time to join us and rest at home for a couple of days."
Garrett remarked, "Carter's always busy with filming. Getting him to relax at home is a big deal."
Emily continued, "Carter said now that his sister is back, he'll make some time to take her shopping and carry her bags."
In the warmth of the family gathering, Josefina wore a gentle smile, enjoying the cozy atmosphere.
Josefina headed to the lab Dorian had set up for her, determined to uncover the secrets of the mysterious black card.
After half an hour of examination, she couldn't find anything unusual.
Then, Oliver's call came through.
Answering, Josefina saw Oliver's handsome face on the screen. "Josie, Grandpa Brandon and I are coming over."
Surprised, Josefina asked, "Are you and Grandpa Brandon coming over for something special?"
Oliver grinned, leaning closer to the camera, his eyes full of affection. "How about bringing over a dowry? What do you think?"
Josefina was taken aback. "Oliver, that's not funny."
"Who says I'm joking?" Oliver replied.
Josefina spoke confidently, "Because my family wouldn't agree. If you tried to offer a dowry, it would be turned down."
Her words left Oliver a bit helpless because what Josefina said was true. The Harrison clan would certainly not agree to Josefina marrying him so soon. She was only eighteen; how many more years would he have to wait to marry his Josie?
In that moment, Oliver felt particularly downcast. "Josie, I'm serious about wanting to marry you."
Faced with Oliver's sincerity, Josefina quickly changed the subject. "Where are you now?"
Oliver replied, "We'll be there in about twenty minutes. Josie, you want to see me, don't you?"
Josefina remained silent. Was this the same Oliver everyone knew as cold and ruthless?
Leaning back in her chair, Josefina spun around leisurely. "Oliver, guess."
He leaned into the camera, his lips parting slightly. "I bet you can't wait to see me too."
Josefina raised an eyebrow. "How do you figure that?"
"Because you're relaxed, with a little smile. It means you're in a good mood. So, Josie, you miss me, don't you?"
Before Josefina could respond, Oliver's expression changed.
"Josie, that black card on your desk, is it yours?"
Josefina held up the black card to the camera. "This one? It's not mine; I found it in
Lena's room. Oliver, have you seen this black card before?"
Oliver nodded. "I have. I'll tell you more when I get there."
Josefina nodded and hung up. She rushed out, eager to learn the origin of the black card.
Josefina sprinted toward the main entrance, but the house was so large it took a while to reach the door. A bodyguard had to drive her over.
Hattie observed the scene and sighed.
Garrett inquired, "What's up?"
