Chapter 528

Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess · Dana E.

Josie's eyes went wide with shock. Lena was mixed up with some underground network?

Were those people the ones who had Lena target her family?

"The black card was something I found in Lena's room," she said thoughtfully. "Looks like she's tied to some secret society."

Oliver's voice was full of concern. "Josie, you're not planning to go this alone, are you?"

A chuckle slipped out of Josie's mouth. "You know me too well. Now that I've got a lead, I have to check it out and confirm it. I had someone tail Lena, but she managed to give us the slip."

It was clear Lena had help, someone covering for her so she could meet her contact.

Gently taking her hand, Oliver spoke softly. "Josie, I'm coming with you. You can't face this alone. This group isn't local-they've got roots overseas. I've dealt with them before; they're cold-blooded."

"Don't worry, I'm not looking to get myself killed. So, we team up?"

He nodded. "Let me do some digging and find the right moment. You took that card from Lena's room, and she's bound to know. Whoever's on the other end will be coming for you."

"So what, you're going to make a fake card to get us in?"

Oliver playfully tapped her nose. "Clever girl, nothing gets past you, does it?" Josie tilted her chin up with a sly grin. "Of course, I'm sharp as a tack."

His laughter spilled out, and he couldn't resist planting a quick kiss on her lips.

It was like Oliver was addicted, holding Josie close and refusing to let go.

His kisses trailed down her slender neck, and she winced in pain, pushing him away.

"Oliver, what are you, part wolf?"

He smirked with a suggestive twinkle in his eye. "Maybe you want to bite back?"

Not a chance.

Josie grabbed a mirror. "Oliver!"

The mark on her neck was all too visible, and she was fuming.

"I'm not speaking to you right now."

She covered her neck and bolted, no makeup to hide the evidence-she had to retreat to her room.

Josie sprinted away, with Oliver hot on her heels.

Dorian walked in just in time to see the scene unfold and quickly stepped in front of Oliver.

His gaze was icy, tinged with anger as he demanded, "Oliver, you dare to upset my little sister?"

Oliver was speechless.

This misunderstanding was colossal.

"Dorian, you've got it all wrong. I would never upset Josie. How could I? Not now, not ever."

"Then why is Josie running? She looks like she's been crying; you must have done something!"

Oliver wanted to sigh. Dorian had pegged him as the enemy.

Fine. For now, he was indeed the Harrison family's enemy, with every thought consumed with whisking Josie away.

"Dorian, there's no time to explain. You've got it wrong. If you don't believe me, let's both go to Josie. Ask her yourself."

"Don't you follow me. I'll go to Josie myself!"

Dorian turned away, coldly, but not before throwing a warning glance back at Oliver, not wanting him to follow.

Oliver stood his ground, ignoring Dorian's warning, and with a few long strides, he started to run.

Seeing Oliver take off, Dorian did the same.

And there they were, two figures darting across the lawn, a farcical chase unfolding, a modern-day comedy of errors.
