Chapter 533

Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess · Dana E.

Oliver stood there, his gaze icy as he addressed the two men, "What's the deal?” One of the men replied, “Our boss wants to have a word with you upstairs."

Josefina immediately grabbed Oliver's arm, her voice sharp and fiery, "Flyboy, where the hell have you been? Chasing skirts again? Listen up, buddy, if I catch you messing around, I'll bust your balls!"

Josefina was the epitome of a feisty, no-nonsense woman.

Oliver almost laughed out loud. This side of Josefina was new to him.

Quick to play along, Oliver put on a meek expression, "I listen to my wife. She's the boss."

The two men exchanged a puzzled look.

"A real man, letting a woman boss him around?" one of them sneered.

Oliver stuck to his act, "What do you know? You got a wife? No? Then you'll never get it!"

The men were left speechless.

Josefina struggled to keep a straight face-Oliver was just too funny.

With her hands on her hips, Josefina shouted, "Get lost and don't mess with our winnings. The place is open for business, and you're saying we can't win some money?"

She raised her voice even more, "Everyone, look at this! We win a little cash, and they say we can't keep it. What kind of place is this? Are we only supposed to lose?"

A plump woman nearby clapped in agreement, completely unaware of whether her comments were appropriate, stirring up the crowd.

Onlookers turned their attention to her, while the two men sent to fetch her were fuming.

This woman wasn't playing along!

Her antics had caught the attention of the higher-ups.

The man in charge glared at Oliver and Josefina, his eyes filled with fury, as if he wished he could strangle Josefina right then and there.

Feigning ignorance, Josefina continued, "What's your game? Planning to get rid of us? I'm telling you, everyone's watching. Call your boss out here!"

Oliver chimed in, "Yeah, let's see the big shot come down!"

A voice reached the two men's ears, "Let them come up."

As soon as the order was given, the men's hostility toward Josefina subsided.

"Ma'am, how about we go upstairs for that tea? My bad for before, my manners were lacking. Shall we sit and chat?"

Josefina, pretending to be reluctant, countered, “If I go with you, you're not planning to silence us for good, are you?"

Oliver played up his fear, "Honey, maybe we shouldn't. If they're out to get us, we wouldn't stand a chance."

Josefina scanned the crowd, "Everyone's watching; they wouldn't dare, right?”

One of the men quickly reassured her, “You're absolutely right, ma'am. With so many eyes on us, who would dare make a move? Besides, this is a legit place; why would we commit murder?"

"Fine," Josefina relented, "I'll take a look upstairs. Everyone's eyes are on us; if we don't come back, they'll know you did us in."

Exchanging a knowing glance with Oliver, Josefina followed the two men upstairs.

Upon reaching the top floor, Josefina and Oliver entered a room where a bearded man sat puffing on a cigar, smirking as if they were beneath his notice, "What's your angle? Who sent you two clowns?"

Josefina replied with a grin, "Money sent us, of course! Why else would we come if not for the chance to make a quick buck? Seems like you're not used to guests turning a profit. So what's the story? Nobody else could walk out of here with a million without losing their shirt?"
