Chapter 587
George stepped into the office.
Oliver leaned back in his chair and quirked an eyebrow. "Did you catch that pic I sent you?"
"Got it, Mr. Oliver. Planning to surprise Ms. Josefina, huh?" George asked with a slight smile.
"That's the plan. Get everything ready. I'm driving over to pick up Josie after work."
George frowned, a hint of concern in his voice. "Mr. Oliver, your schedule's packed today. You might not be able to leave early."
Oliver cracked his knuckles with determination. "Whatever can be handled now, I'll take care of it. Anything else, we'll push to tomorrow."
George knew better than to argue. When Oliver made a decision, it was set in stone.
...
After work.
Josefina stepped out of the building, following Oliver's instructions to walk three hundred meters up the street and wait for him at the corner.
Wearing her comfy flats, Josefina moved briskly, not feeling the slightest bit tired.
As she opened the passenger door of Oliver's car, she gasped. The seat and floors were blanketed in flowers.
Sitting amidst the floral overflow, Josefina was in awe. "Oliver, these are gorgeous."
A smile broke across Oliver's face. "You like them? I'll bring you flowers every day, Josie."
"And what if I say gold is pretty? Will you bring me gold every day?"
"If it makes you happy, Josie, gold it is," Oliver said, his voice dripping with indulgence.
Josefina smiled silently as Oliver drove off, not knowing that he was a man of his word. In the years to come, Oliver would bring her flowers and gold-daily.
...
Oliver brought Josefina to the Brandons' home.
They parked in the driveway and walked to the family villa. As they entered, a heated argument echoed within.
A woman's voice reached them. "Dad, I've been married to Tianhong for years. We have children. Why can't you accept us? Domin your grandson, your blood tant Isn't Oliver working with Dominic a good thing?"
"What's good about it? Oliver's managed the company for years, only to hand it over? Think of your son, Domine. I'm Oliver's grandfather. I have to look out for
him, Grandpa Brandon retorted with fury.
Sydney sighed. "Dad, I'm devoted to Tianhong. Can't we be a family again? Why let outsiders mock us?"
Oliver strode in, his voice sharp as steel. "Sydney, you're the biggest joke! The mistress who conspired with Rowan to kill my mother. Murderers, both of you!"
Standing beside Brandon, Oliver glared at Sydney coldly.
Taken aback, Sydney tried to plead. "Oliver, help me convince Grandpa. Let's leave the past behind us, right?"
"You mean look forward to money? You brought Dominic back for
cash, didn't you? Would you be with
gaze cur through Sydney's defenses.
Rowan without it? Oliver
Sydney, rattled, was at a loss for words.
In a last attempt, Sydney spoke softly, "Regardless, we're family. Shouldn't we stand united?"
Brandon scoffed. "Family with whom? Have I acknowledged you?"
"Rowan! What are you digging for in your room? Get down here now!" Brandon bellowed.
