Chapter 593

Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess · Dana E.

Dawn was breaking as Livia strolled through the park, leash in hand and her faithful dog, Bobby, trotting alongside her. Out of nowhere, Finley appeared, clutching a bag of breakfast goodies as he tried to catch up with her.

"Bobby, let's head back home. We've got company," Livia said, a hint of disdain in her voice as she pulled Bobby away from Finley.

Panting, Finley finally caught up with her. "Livia, I brought you breakfast."

Livia kept walking, barely glancing in his direction. Ever since she embraced her true self, the once docile Livia had transformed into a confident woman who no longer cared for Finley's affections. She was now carefree and happier than ever. It seemed like Livia genuinely disliked Finley now, a far cry from the discontented Shanna she once was.

Livia had stumbled upon her old diaries and realized she was meant to be a spirited and free young lady, not someone to be pitied or walked over.

"Finley, why don't you bring breakfast to Shay instead of bothering me? Bobby's happy with me. If you don't want to take care of him, I'll do it. Tell me how much you need, and I'll wire it to your account."

Finley's spirits sank further at Livia's icy demeanor.

He hung his head, following her like a downtrodden spouse, all the way to the foot of her apartment building. Impatiently, Livia snapped, "Finley, can't you just leave me alone? Are you that desperate?"

With a bitter smile, Finley replied, "Can't we just be friends, Livia?"

"You're pathetic, Finley. You didn't want me when I was available, and now that I'm over you, you come sniffing around. What, is this fun for you? Always wanting what you can't have?"

"Livia, I..."

"Enough. Go find your precious Shay," she cut him off, pulling Bobby into the elevator. Finley was left outside, heartbroken.

...

Meanwhile, Shay went to see Finley,

only to be told by the housekeeper that he wasn't home. Surprised, as she had informed Finley of her visit beforehand she She waited on the sofa

a sense of unease growing inside her.

Finley returned home later, looking utterly deflated. Shay hurried over to him, concern etched on her face. "Finley, what's wrong? You look pale. Are you sick?"

She reached out to him, but he

brushed her off, leaving her hand hanging in the air A flash of annoyance crossed her eyes, but she quickly masked it with a gentle smile.

"What's the matter, Finley?"

"I'm fine," he murmured, sinking into the couch, his gaze fixed on the ceiling. "Let me take you to the hospital. You don't look well. Are you sure you're not ill?"

"I'm not sick. Just tired," he said, his voice weary. "Shay, you should go home. I need some rest."

Shay's face fell at the rejection, the first of its kind from Finley. Departing without a proper goodbye was a blow to her dignity.

"If there's something troubling you, you can tell me. I'll help you carry the burden," she offered.

But Finley remained unmoved, eyes still staring at nothingness above.

"Shay, I really am fine. Just tired, that's all. No need to worry about me."

Maintaining her poise, Shay kept up her gracious smile. "Alright then, get some rest," she said, and left without another word.

As she exited, she ran into Mary, Finley's housekeeper. With a friendly smile, she approached Mary. "Mary, what skincare have you been using lafely? Your skin looks so much better!"

Flattered by the compliment, Mary beamed. "Miss Shay, you flatter me. But if we're talking about great skin, yours is truly flawless, the perfect porcelain complexion."
