Chapter 630
Josie was always on the go, up early and back late, hardly ever running into Alivia and Mandy. Before she knew it, boot camp had wrapped up. She was packing her things, getting ready for classes that would start the following Monday, with a nice little three-day break to catch her breath.
Just then, her phone buzzed. Seeing the caller ID, Josie couldn't help but smile as she picked up.
It was Stan, her martial arts mentor.
"Hey Josie, I'm at the coffee shop right next to your campus."
Josie beamed, "I'll be there in a jiffy!"
She quickly gathered her things and told her roommates, "I've got something to take care of, catch you later!"
Once Josie left, Joelle eyed the designer bedding on Josie's bed and turned to Haylee, "Do you think Josie's loaded? I looked it up, and her bedding set is over five grand. But she's always in simple sportswear, no obvious brands. She seemed so excited just now, like she's in love or something."
Haylee laughed, "Falling in love isn't exactly rare, you know."
Joelle, with a sly look, looped her arm through Haylee's and suggested, "Let's grab some dinner. I heard there's an amazing pot pie place near campus."
Damita flipped open her book, showing zero interest in joining.
Haylee called out, "Damita, want me to bring you back a pie?"
"No thanks," Damita replied.
And with that, Joelle and Haylee left the dorm together.
...
Josie, bag slung over her shoulder, made her way to the café and spotted her mentor Stan from a distance.
Even at sixty, Stan's dedication to martial arts and healthy living made him look a good decade younger.
Josie ran over and sat across him. "Master, you really came! I designed some clothes
fo
bring them over later." Cop
Stan looked at Josie with the
fondness of a father. "Josie, you're
always so thoughtful. Your senior brother always off
who-knows-where, could learn a thing or two from you."
Josie smiled, "Master, he cares about you too. He's just busy with other commitments and can't be around as much."
Stan's smile widened, his gaze even warmer, "You always know just what to say."
"Master, I'm just speaking the truth. Are you sure you don't want to come over to my place tonight?"
"No need, I'm here on some business. Knowing your biological parents are taking good care of you eases my mind."
Josie insisted, "If there's anything I can help with, please let me know. Don't be shy."
"I know you're capable, always turning bad situations around. I'm just here to catch up with an old friend, nothing much."
Josie nodded, and they continued their conversation, enjoying each other's company.
This scene didn't escape the notice of Joelle and Haylee.
Joelle's eyes sparkled with disdain. She had thought Josie was some rich girl, but it turned out she was
just Cozying up to some wealthy old" man!
IMS
Joelle's tone dripped with scorn, "Haylee, did you see how Josie was smiling at that
old man? She's clearly buttering him up."
Haylee pondered, "Maybe it's a misunderstanding. Josie seems like a decent person, not the type to do such things."
"Haylee, you've been too sheltered by your folks, living in a small town. You're not used to seeing things like this."
Joelle sneakily took out her phone and snapped a photo of Josie talking with Stan.
