Mr. Shaw's face flushed with anger when he heard those words.

Just then, Josefina spoke up, "Mr. Shaw, the experiment is finished."

Mr. Shaw, taken aback, managed a sheepish grin. "That's quite impressive, Josefina. You've got real talent. No wonder you've been taking days off lately."

With calm dignity, Josefina explained, "My grandma was hospitalized, and it was touch-and-go for a while, so I had to take some time off. Sorry about that."

Mr. Shaw found himself at a loss for words in the face of Josefina's explanation. "Alright, everyone, back to your seats," he ordered.

Everyone, including Josefina, returned to their seats. Haylee leaned over and whispered excitedly, "Josie, you're amazing! You pulled off such a tough experiment, Mr. Shaw won't bother you anymore."

Joelle, equally surprised, thought to herself, "I knew Josefina was the final exam champion, but I didn't realize she was this brilliant."

"Josefina, you're really something," Joelle praised aloud.

Josefina responded with a grin, "Thanks. I think I'm pretty great too."

Joelle blinked in surprise. "Don't you have a modest bone in your body?"

But Josefina felt no need to be modest. She needed to let her skills speak for themselves and silence Mr. Shaw's challenges. She was determined to find out why he was targeting her in the first place.

Josefina's decision paid off; Mr. Shaw didn't bother her during the lecture anymore. After the afternoon classes, Josefina stepped out of the school.

She received a call from Percy. "Josie, your grandma wants to see you."

"I'm on my way to the hospital now," she replied.

As she reached the school gates, Josefina spotted Dorian. She hurried over to the car. Dorian rolled down the window and called out, "Josie, hop in. I'm heading to the hospital too."

Josefina got into the car, and Dorian drove off. "Josie, don't let what Mandy said get to you. No matter what, our family supports you and believes in you. If grandma doesn trust you, maybe it's better not to treat her. No point in casting pearls before swine."

Dorian wasn't particularly close to Alivia and was furious knowing how she'd humiliated Josefina. Reid had filled him in on the day's events, fueling his anger. If Alivia didn't want to live and Mandy was asking for trouble, he was more than ready to stand up for Josefina.

"Dorian, let's see what grandma has to say at the hospital. After all, she is my mom's mom. Arriving at the hospital, Dorian went ahead to Alivia's room to check on her while Josefina stayed behind to talk with Percy about the day's developments.

"Lena didn't pull her punches. The parasites have been in the body too long; they're not easy to get rid of," Percy reported.

"Did she say anything when she woke up?" Josefina inquired.

"I showed her the video, and the doctors and nurses testified too. It's just hard to tell what the old lady is thinking—whether she trusts you or doubts you," Percy replied.

"It depends on what she chooses. If she continues to doubt me, I really have to consider my next steps," Josefina stated.

Percy earnestly added, "I think if she can't trust you, maybe it's not worth your effort to save her. Someone like her doesn't deserve your care."
