Chapter 674
Dorian stood up, concern etched in his voice, "Josie, let's get out of here. You haven't eaten anything yet, right? You must be starving."
"Just a bit," Josefina replied, standing up as well.
Dorian led Josefina out, his movements precise, almost robotic.
...
Josefina sat in Dorian's car as they headed home together.
"Josie, do you think you can help grandma recover?" Dorian asked.
"Yes, but it'll take some time," Josefina answered.
"Josie, there's no rush. Let her wait a bit; it'll teach her not to take her health for granted. Plus, if you heal her too quickly, she might just start bouncing around even more," Dorian joked, a playful tone in his voice.
Josefina couldn't help but laugh, finding Dorian's humor infectious despite the truth in his words.
"Dorian, I'll follow your advice. I do need some time to prepare, and I can't perform the surgery on grandma just yet."
Dorian smiled, satisfaction lighting up his face as he brought Josefina back home.
...
Entering the living room, Josefina spotted Oliver.
"Oliver, what are you doing here?" Dorian asked coldly, surprised to see him so early.
Oliver lounged on the sofa, as relaxed as if he were in his own home.
"Your mom invited me over for dinner. It would've been rude to decline, so here I am," Oliver explained with a serene confidence.
Dorian was taken aback by Oliver's boldness, suspecting his mother's invitation was more casual than Oliver perceived.
Oliver picked up a cup of milkshake from the table. "Josie, I got this for you."
Josefina noticed the gleam in
Oliver's eyes but hesitated, touching her stomach. *I
ink I'll pass on the... milkshake. They really pack on the
pounds."
"My sister isn't a fan of milkshakes, Oliver. Maybe don't buy them for her next time," Dorian said firmly, sensing Oliver's intentions.
Oliver, unfazed by Dorian's hostility, simply put the milkshake down. "If Josie doesn't want it, then that's that."
Dorian pressed on, "Aren't you busy with your company, Oliver? Hasn't Dominic been causing trouble? And yet you find time for dinner here?"
"I always have time for a meal, especially one with Josie. Yes, the company's busy, but I'm more than capable of handling it," Oliver responded with unwavering calm
Dorian had heard the rumors about Dominic stirring the shareholders against liver but seeing Oliver's composed demeanor made Dorian reconsider his capabilities.
Could Josie really be safe with him? Dorian wasn't sure yet and decided to watch a bit longer.
Sitting on the couch, Josefina felt like she was in the middle of a tug-of-war.
Dorian doesn't like Oliver?
But why?
Just then, Hattie and Garrett walked in, followed closely by Grandpa Brandon.
After Emily woke up, the family's worries seemed to settle, and the couple went on a trip, not yet returned.
Grandpa Brandon entered with a warm, welcoming smile.
"Josie, I've brought you a little something," he said, offering a gift.
Grandpa Brandon handed it over, but Josefina hesitated. "Grandpa Brandon, you've already given me so much. I really can't accept more."
Grandpa Brandon chuckled, "I treat you like my own granddaughter, and you call
me grandpa. It's only right I spoil you a bit. Please, take it."
Reluctantly, Josefina accepted the gift, curious yet apprehensive about its contents.
If it was too extravagant, she knew she couldn't keep it.
Josefina opened the box...
