Chapter 688
Oliver sat with Josefina on a park bench under the soft glow of the street lamps, waiting for Livia to join them. The silence was suddenly broken by the ringtone of Oliver's phone. It was Finley calling, but Oliver decided to ignore it. Yet, Finley was persistent and called again.
Josefina glanced at Oliver's phone screen and, biting her lip, urged, "Just answer it! Let's hear what he has to say."
With a sigh, Oliver picked up. Finley's voice came through, loud and anxious, "Oliver, are you with Josefina? Does she know where Livia is? I've been knocking on her door, and there's no answer. I tried calling, but it doesn't even sound like her phone is ringing inside. Is she okay?"
Josefina rolled her eyes. "Seriously, what's wrong with this guy?"
Why was Finley bothering with Livia when he had already moved on to Shay?
Noticing Josefina's growing irritation, Oliver responded coldly, "What do you want with Livia, Finley? I thought you were busy with Shay. Or did you suddenly find your way back?"
There was a moment of silence before Finley replied, "Her dog, she sent it back to me. I just... I miss her, you know?"
Josefina couldn't contain her anger any longer. Leaning into the phone, she snapped, "Finley, you're acting like a real dog yourself!"
Oliver quickly ended the call, fearing Josefina's temper might flare even more at the sound of Finley's voice.
"Josie, don't let him get to you. He's not worth it," Oliver tried to soothe her.
But their attention was diverted as Livia finally emerged, looking pale and disoriented.
After getting some instructions from the doctor, they prepared to leave. Josefina turned to Oliver, "You head back first. I'll stay with Livia."
Oliver offered, "How about I drive you home first? You can grab some clothes for Livia. I mean, I'm a guy; it's not really appropriate for me to go through her things."
Standing up, Josefina decided, "Just keep an eye on Livia for me. I'll be quick. I don't want her to be alone right now."
Oliver was hesitant, "Josie, I'm a guy, and she's... Well, it's just not right for me to stay with her alone."
But Josefina was insistent, pulling him towards the door, "Just stay near the door and call a nurse if anything happens. Livia's place isa't far from here, be right back."
Reluctantly, Oliver agreed and handed his car keys over to Josefina.

Josefina arrived at Livia's house, quickly packed some clothes and as she was leaving, she ran lato Finley walking his dog.
"Josefina, is Livia home?" Finley asked eagerly.
Josefina snapped, "None of your business!"
Finley pleaded, "Her dog misses her. If she doesn't show up soon, I swear the poor thing will die of heartbreak."
Rolling her eyes, Josefina retorted, "Why don't you and your dog go bother Shay? Can't win over your dog's affection?"
Finley was taken aback, almost certain Josefina was insinuating both he and Shay were as loyal as dogs.
Quickly leaving, Josefina heard Finley call after her, "Josefina, wait!"
Without a second thought, Josefina spun around, grabbed Finley by the arm and with a swift move flipped, him over her shoulder and onto the ground.
Groaning in pain, Finley lay there, his pride hurt more than his back or his rear.
Josefina warned, "Stop bothering me and stay away from Livia. Or next time, it'll be worse."
The thought of Livia's troubles fueled her anger towards Finley, that jerk!
As Finley struggled to get up, he realized Josefina was already gone, vanished into the night.
